The Indians strike in threes, top Railriders

The Indianapolis Indians continued their three game set at PNC Field against the Railriders. The Indians looked to even the series with the Railriders. Brady Lail got the start for the Railriders and the Indians went to Josh Lindblom. Chris Bostick led off with a single to center then moved to second when Max Moroff singled to right. After a lineout, Elias Diaz hit a three run homer to center for a 3-0 lead. Jason Rogers followed with a homer to right center for a 4-0 Indians lead. A strikeout and a flyout ended the top of the first. Lindblom threw a 1-2-3 first to hold the four run lead but ended up taking a grounder off his heel but went to first for the third out. Lail threw a 1-2-3 frame in the second. Cody Dickson came in to pitch for the Indians after Lindblom's injury. Dickson would throw a 1-2-3 2nd. Max Moroff led off with a single to left. After a lineout, Elias Diaz singled to right to get Moroff to second. Diaz would be forced out at second but Rogers would reach on a throwing error and would score Elias for the 5-0 lead. Eric Wood would single but a flyout ended the threat. Cito Culver would hit a one out double to left then Rodriguez would single to move Culver to third. Tyler Wade would bring in Culver on an RBI fielder's choice . The Railriders' manager Al Pedrique would be ejected. Tyler Wade would move to third on an errant pickoff throw but a flyout ended the inning. Lail threw a 1-2-3 4th inning. Rob Refsnyder would hit a two out single to center but a groundout ended the inning. Max Moroff hit a bunt single but Lail retired the next three batters to end the top of the fifth. Ruben Tejada led off with a walk. After Dickson got back-to-back strikeouts, Tyler Wade would draw a walk. Dustin Fowler would single to center to score Tejada to make it a 3 run deficit 5-2. Pat Light came in to pitch for the Indians and would get Clint Frazier to ground out to end the fifth. Eric Wood would lead off with a single to left to lead off the top of the sixth. Wood would be forced out on a grounder back to Lail from Erich Weiss. Joey Terdoslavich singled to center to get Weiss to third. Eury Perez would hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Weiss for a 6-2 Indians lead. Terdoslavich would advance to second on a throwing error. Bostick would drive home Terdoslavich for the 7-2 lead on a single to left but Bostick would be out at second trying to stretch it out into a double. Ji-Man Choi and Rob Refsnyder drew walks to lead off the bottom of the sixth. Mark Payton then singled to right to load the bases. Choi would score on a double play to cut it to 7-3. A flyout would end the inning. Elias Diaz would hit a two out single to center but a flyout would end the inning. AJ Schugel would come in to pitch the seventh for the Indians. Eddy Rodriguez led off with a double to right and then Tyler Wade would hit a bunt single, moving Rodriguez to third. Rodriguez would score on a wild pitch to make it 7-4 Indians. Schugel would get back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning. Tyler Jones would come in to pitch the eighth for the Railriders and would throw a 1-2-3 frame in the eighth. Mark Payton would single to right with one out but a popout and a forceout ended the inning. Chris Bostick would give the Indians an insurance run as he hit a homer to right for an 8-4 Indianapolis lead. Jason Gurka came in to pitch for the Railriders and got back-to-back strikeouts as they headed to the bottom of the ninth. Brett McKinney came in to pitch the ninth for the Indians. Tyler Wade would reach on an error with one out and then Dustin Fowler hit a single to right, moving Wade to second. A wild pitch moved them to second and third. Frazier would single home Wade for an 8-5 lead. Dovydas Neverauskas came in to get the save for the Indians. Neverauskas would strike out Choi and Refsnyder to take the victory on Saturday afternoon 8-5 over the Railriders.

Thoughts on the game: The offense was great for Indianapolis today. Three players had three hits for the Indians. Three players had home runs today. Eddy Rodriguez had a great game at the plate, getting 2 hits, one of them being a double.
