Louisville routs Railriders

The Railriders took to get their first sweep of the season as they took on Louisville. Louisville looked to prevent getting swept at home. Nick Routt got the start for Louisville and Luis Cessa got the start for the Railriders. Routt started off the game with a 1-2-3 first inning for the Bats. Dilson Herrera hit a single on a deflected ball. Cessa retired both Sebastian Elizalde and Seth Mejias-Brean to keep the game scoreless. Donovan Solano and Mason Williams each singled with one out. Tejada continued his hot start as he singled home Solano on an RBI single for a 1-0 Railriders lead. Williams would move to second and Tejada would move to second on the throw. Rob Brantley would pick off Williams at third for the second out, then Cito Culver would fly out to right to end the top of the second. Jesse Winker would lead off with a single. Winker would forced out at second on a Phillip Ervin groundout back to Cessa. Ervin would also be forced out at second on Brantly grounder to third. Brandon Dixon would singled to left to make first and second with two outs. Beau Amaral would reached on an error and Brantly would score to tie the game at 1. Juan Perez would single to load the bases. Herrera would draw a walk to bring in Dixon for a 2-1 Louisville lead. Elizalde would also draw a walk to score Amaral to extend the lead to 3-1. A forceout ended the inning. Routt threw a 1-2-3 third. Jesse Winker led off with a double to right but Cessa would retire the next three batters to keep 3-1 in favor of the Bats. Rob Refsnyder hit a one out double to right but Routt got the next two batters out to end the top of the fourth. Juan Perez would hit a one out inside-the-park home run to make it 4-1 Bats. Herrera would reach on an error but would be out trying to steal second, then Elizalde drew a walk. Meijas-Brean would bring home Herrera on an RBI single to center and a 5-1 lead. Meijas-Brean would advance to second on an error. Winker would ground out to end the fourth. Evan Mitchell came in to pitch the fifth for the Bats. Ruben Tejada would single to center to lead off the top of the fifth, but Mitchell retired the next three batters to keep it 5-1. Jason Gurka came in to pitch the fifth for the Railriders. Brandon Dixon would homer to right with two outs and make it 6-1 Bats. A groundout would end the inning. Dustin Fowler would single to center with one out, but Mitchell got the next two batters out to keep the Railriders to one run. Juan Perez would then leadoff with a home run to center for a 7-1 advantage. Herrera would reach on an error. Following a strikeout, Meija-Brean doubled to right to move Herrera to third. Winker would bring in Herrera on a sacrifice fly to center for an 8-1 advantage. Ervin would drive home Meijas-Brean for the 9-1 lead. A strikeout would end the inning. Culver would single to center with two outs but Mitchell got Eddy Rodriguez to strike out to start the seventh inning stretch. Ben Heller came in to pitch the seventh for the Railriders and proceded to throw a 1-2-3 inning. Lucas Luetge came in to pitch the eighth for the Bats. Clint Frazier would double to left with one out but a groundout and a strikeout ended the inning. Heller once again threw a 1-2-3 inning in his second inning of work. Alejandro Chacin came in to pitch the ninth for Louisville. Chacin would throw a 1-2-3 ninth to preserve a 9-1 victory over the Railriders.

Thoughts on the game: Well a dominant game by the Louisville Bats. Juan Perez had an impressive game with 2 homers, one inside the park and another to center. The Railriders had way too many errors in the loss (They had four).

Up Next: They continue their road trip as they travel to Indianapolis for a three game set. Chad Green faces off against Josh Lindblom.
