The Railriders had their first true road trip of the season, traveling to Louisville and Indianapolis. They would go 4-2 during the stretch, just missing sweeping each team on the last game. They are currently 8-8 on the season, 3.5 games back of first place. With that, here are the three stars of the week for the Railriders and we'll also check up on the local professional players.
Railriders Three Stars of the Week
Third Star: Chad Green: Green got the start in the opening game of the Indianapolis series, he went 6 innings, giving up 4 hits and striking out eight in the victory.
Second Star: Clint Frazier: Frazier lead the week with two home runs, including one on Saturday night which was the difference for the Railriders.
First Star: Rob Refsnyder: Refsnyder led the team in hits this week. He also hit for the weekly cycle so to speak. Hitting 2 doubles, a triple, a homer and 3 RBIs.
Now here are what the local pro players are doing.
Matt Wotherspoon (Crestwood): Wotherspoon is currently playing at Double-A Trenton. He has appeared in four games for the Thunder. He's 0-1 with a 2.45 ERA has six strikeouts in 7 and 1/3 innings pitched.
Kyle McMyne (Old Forge): Playing for Triple-A Louisville. He's appeared in seven games for the Bats. He's 1-0 with a 0 ERA. He has 6 strikeouts in 12 and 2/3 innings pitched.
Joe McCarthy (Scranton): Playing for Double-A Montgomery. He's played in 14 games, hitting .265 with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs. He's also stolen two bases.
Cory Spangenberg (Abington Heights): Playing for Triple-A El Paso. He's played in 16 games, hitting .371 with 3 doubles, a triple, a home run and seven RBIs
Mike Papi (Tunkhannock): Playing for Double-A Akron. Played in 15 games, hitting .229 with a home run and six RBIs.
Max Kranick (Valley View): Still playing in Pirates extended spring training.
Tony Hernandez (Hazleton Area): Still in Yankees extended spring training.
Chris Sweeney (Crestwood): Evansville has not yet started play.
