The Comets traveled to King's College for a Saturday afternoon matchup with Marian Catholic. Jake Morra got the start for the Comets. Salazar got the start for Marian Catholic. Morra would throw a 1-2-3 top of the first. Mick Bafunno led off the bottom of the first with a walk then stole second and scored on a Colin Macko RBI single for a 1-0 Crestwood lead. After a flyout, Justin Darden singled moving Macko to third. Anthony Kovalchik brought in Macko on a sacrifice fly to left for a 2-0 lead. Curtis Tokach would single to move Darden to third. Brandon Brozena would drive home Darden and Tokach on an RBI single and a 4-0 advantage. A strikeout would end the inning. Nolter would lead off with a single but Morra would retire the next three to keep the four run lead. Steve Wegener would lead off with a single then Evan Knapp would get hit by a pitch. Wilson came in to pitch for Marian Catholic. Bafunno would drive home Wegener on an RBI double and a 5-0 lead. Colin Macko would bring in Knapp on an RBI groundout for the 6-0 lead then Graves brought home Bafunno for the 7-0 lead. A strikeout ended the inning. Latoff hit a one out single but Morra got the next two batters out to keep it scoreless. Corey Chalk hit a two out double and Wegener reached on an error but a strikeout kept the Comets off the scoreboard. Keen led off with a lead off walk but Morra got the next three batters to fly out to Brozena in left. Keselicka came in pitch for the Colts. Bafunno led off with a single, but was forced out on a Matt Taleroski groundout. Keselicka got the next two batters out to end the inning. Salazar and Cappel each began the fifth with singles then Latoff drew a walk to load the bases. Salazar would score on a wild pitch to get the Colts on the board. Cappel would score on a passed ball to make it 7-2. Latoff would drive home Paisley on a sacrifice fly to right. A groundout ended the Top of the fifth. Tokach drew a one out walk then Brozena singled moving Tokach to second. Chalk drew a walk to load the bases. Wegener drove home Tokach on an RBI fielder's choice. Bafunno then drove home Brozena on a bases loaded walk to make it 9-3 Comets. Cann came in to pitch for Marian Catholic. Connor Kaminski came in to pitch the sixth for the Comets. Nolter drew a leadoff walk, then Kubishin single to move Nolter to second. Kaminski would retire the next three batters to keep the lead. Aaron Austin hit a leadoff single, Toronzi would hit a single moving Austin to second. David Wickhiser drove home Austin on a sac fly to left and Wickhiser would reach as the ball was misplayed, making it 10-3 Crestwood. Cann would induce a double play then got a popout to end the Top of the seventh. Brandon Brozena came in to pitch the seventh for the Comets. Latoff led off with a single, moved to third on a passed ball and would score on a wild pitch. After a strikeout and a popout, Keen would double. A groundout would end the game as the Comets took the victory 10-4.
Thoughts on the game: The Comets scored early on and cruised there after. They were able to put several players into the game. The pitching and defense looked very good. Mick Bafunno once again had a great game, going 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs, a double and two walks.
