Railriders takes final game of Homestand

The Railriders looked to end their 5 game losing streak to Buffalo on Easter Sunday afternoon. The Bisons were looking to sweep the Railriders for the second straight weekend. Chad Green got the start for the Railriders. The Bisons went with Brett Oberholtzer. Ty Kelly hit a one out double to right but Green retired the next two batters as the Railriders came to bat in the bottom of the first. Oberholtzer retired the Railriders 1-2-3 in the bottom of the first. Dwight Smith, Jr led off with a walk, would steal second after Jason Leblebijian struck out. After a flyout, Gregorio Petit doubled to left to score Smith to give Buffalo a 1-0 lead. A ground out would end the Top half of the second. Oberholtzer would once again, retired the Railriders 1-2-3 in the second. Green would retire the Bisons 1-2-3 in the top of the third to keep it a one run deficit. Cito Culver would draw a one out walk, then Wilkin Castillo singled to left to move Culver to second. After a Tyler Wade flyout, Clint Frazier would single to right to score Culver to tie the game at 1. Oberholtzer would get Dustin Fowler to strike out looking to end the inning. Leblebijian hit a two out infield single but Green would get Luke Maile to popout to third to end the Top of the fourth. Rob Refsnyder would lead off with a  single to left. After a flyout, Mason Williams would ground into a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning still tied. Green retired the Bisons once again 1-2-3 to keep the game tied. Ruben Tejada would lead off with a single to left. Tejada would be forced out at second on a Castillo ground out for the second out. Tyler Wade would single to center but Frazier was called out on strikes to end the fifth. Ty Kelly led off with a single to left. Following a flyout, Mike Ohlman would single off a ricocheted grounder but Green would get Smith to ground into a 4-6-3 double play. Mike Bolsinger came in to pitch for the Bisons in the sixth. Dustin Fowler would lead off with a triple to center. Following a Refsnyder ground out. Donovan Solano would hit a ground ball to third and Fowler went and Leblebijian threw to Maile to tag Fowler out at home for the second out. Bolsinger would strike out Mason Williams to end the sixth. Petit would hit a two out single to left then Ian Parmley would draw a walk but Green got Christian Lopes to fly out to left to get to the seventh inning stretch tied at 1. Ruben Tejada would double to center to lead off the bottom of the seventh, he would move to third on a grounder to short. Castillo would single home Tejada on a single to right and a 2-1 Railriders lead. Bolsinger got back-to-back strikeouts to end the seventh. Chasen Shreve came in to pitch the eighth for the Railriders. Shreve threw a 1-2-3 eighth to hold the Railriders one run lead. Fowler singled to center to start off the eighth then Refsnyder tripled to center to score Fowler and extend the Railriders lead to 3-1. After Bolsinger got the next two batters out, the Bisons replaced him with Danny Barnes. Barnes would get Tejada to strike out looking to end the eighth. Ben Heller came in for the save in the ninth inning for the Railriders. Heller got Smith to ground out to second for the first out. Jason Leblebijian struck out swinger for the second out then Luke Maile flew out to center to end the game and give the Railriders a 3-1 victory over Buffalo.

Thoughts on the game: The Railriders finally broke the early streak of five straight losses to Buffalo. Also a good way to end the homestand, with a win on the final game.

Up Next: The Railriders have an off day tomorrow. They then are on the road on Tuesday at Louisville. Brady Lail gets the start for the Railriders and the Bats will start Rob Wooten.
