Well last week, we got several baseball and softball games in and I was able to make a better countdown than last week. Every team was able to play at least two league games. With that, this article will discuss the baseball and softball week that was.
VALLEY WEST STAYS UNDEFEATED
Valley West played two games in a row last week. Beating Hazleton Area in a comeback victory and then the next day, they would shut out Pittston Area 4-0.
HOLY REDEEMER SOFTBALL TAKES TWO
Holy Redeemer took down Wyoming Seminary 10-0 then took an exhibition game against Wyoming Area. Which the Royals had to come from behind to take the victory.
MEYERS STAYS UNDEFEATED
Meyers took three games last week. Taking down the defending Division 3 champion Holy Redeemer on Monday. Took down Lake-Lehman Wednesday then took down Hanover Area. Meyers looks like the early contenders for the Division 3 crown.
HAZLETON AREA SOFTBALL STAYS UNBEATEN
Hazleton Area stayed undefeated with victories over Coughlin and Crestwood. They'll have a tough test on Thursday as they take on Valley West.
ABINGTON HEIGHTS BASEBALL THROWS NO-HITTER
The Comets on Thursday threw a combined no-hitter against Valley View on Thursday. Jake Swank got the start and Colin McCreary finished up the no-hitter. Abington Heights stayed unbeaten with the victory. Despite falling to 0-2, Valley View played two tough 5A schools and will rebound from that start.
OLD FORGE'S BOETTGER THROWS NO-HITTER
Mason Boettger threw a no-hitter in a 1-0 loss to Lakeland. Tough way to lose when you have no-hit stuff all game.
GAMES TO WATCH THIS WEEK
On Monday, Holy Redeemer takes on Hanover Area. Delaware Valley takes on West Scranton in a three game set. North Pocono takes on Wallenpaupack in a three game series.
On Tuesday, Valley West travels to Mountain Top to take on Crestwood.
On Thursday, WVC's Division 1 and 2 start their crossover games. Valley West travels to Tunkhannock in a matchup of Division leaders.
