Crestwood at Wyoming Seminary Baseball

Crestwood baseball started off their season at Nesbitt Field, home of the Wyoming Seminary baseball team. Hromisin would get the start for Wyoming Seminary. Curtis Tokach got the start for the Comets. The first inning started with Brett Caladie hitting a one out single and Colin Macko reached on an error. Brett Caladie would score on an another error by Wyoming Seminary to make it 1-0 Crestwood. After a strikeout, Justin Darden would drive in Macko to increase their lead to 2-0. Curtis Tokach would work around a one out error to keep the game 2-0 at the end of one. Hromisin would throw a 1-2-3 2nd to keep the Blue Knights within 2 runs. Brandon Brozena would enter the game on the mound for the Comets. Jesse Negron and Todd Phillips each hit one out singles to make it first and second, but a fly out and a ground out to third to end the threat. Caladie and Macko would hit two out singles to make it first and third. Caladie would score on a pick play to make it 3-0 Comets and after Curtis Tokach singled to make it first and third once again, Justin Darden drove in Macko to make it 4-0 Crestwood. A fly out would end the inning. Wyatt Kindler came in to pitch for the Comets. Nardone would lead off with a single, then Kachi followed with a bunt single to make it first and second. After a fielder's choice, Oravic would double in the gap to right center to score Nardone and John Kehl to cut the Comets' lead to 4-2. After a groundout to short, Negron would single to make a one run game, but a groundout to third would end the inning. Negron came in to pitch for the Blue Knights. Negron worked around a two out walk to keep it 4-3 in the bottom of the 4th. Jake Morra came in to pitch for the Comets in the bottom of the 4th. After Morra gave up a one out walk, he would pick off the runner at first for the second out then struck out the next batter to end the fourth inning. Negron threw a 1-2-3 5th to keep it a one run game. Connor Kaminski entered the game to pitch in the 5th. Kaminski gave up a two out single to Kehl but a fly out ended the inning. Evan Knapp led off the top of the 6th with a single then Toronzi walked. Knapp advanced to third on an error and Toronzi stole second. Anthony Austin would hit a sac fly to right to score Knapp to make it 5-3 but an out at third on the play and a strikeout ended the sixth for the Comets. Mike Palmiero came in the game to pitch the 6th inning and threw a 1-2-3 inning as we go to the 7th inning.  Todd Phillips came in to pitch the 7th for the Blue Knights. Mick Bafunno led off with a single then Jake Antosh followed with a walk but Bafunno was caught stealing third and after a strikeout and a groundout ended the Comets threat. Evan Knapp came in to close out the game for Crestwood. Knapp threw a 1-2-3 7th to seal the victory 5-3 over Wyoming Seminary. Brett Caladie and Justin Darren each had 2 hits for the Comets. Oravitz drove in 2 for the Blue Knights

Thoughts on the game: Pretty interesting game pitching wise for the Comets. Only gave up one walk the whole game especially on a cold day. Great game defensively by the Comets as well, making several impressive plays. Darden and Caladie had great games at the plate for the Comets. Wyoming Seminary's pitching was very good as well, only giving up 3 walks as a staff. Oravic had a good game at the plate, driving in two
