MLB Roundup April 9th

Rays/Orioles was postponed due to weather
Marlins/Nationals was postponed due to weather


Red Sox 8 Blue Jays 4
Dustin Pedroia went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBIs and Rick Porcello won his Red Sox debut striking out 6 as they beat the Blue Jays. Jose Bautista hit 2 home runs for the Blue Jays.


Yankees 8 Tigers 4
Alex Rodriguez and Carlos Beltran homered and Jacoby Ellsbury triple as the Yankees took the victory over the Tigers. James McCann had 2 RBIs for the Tigers.


Reds 5 Pirates 1
Euegnio Suarez had a home run and 3 RBIs and Raisel Iglesias struck out 5 as the Reds handed the Pirates their first loss of the season. Josh Harrison had an RBI single for the Pirates.


White Sox 7 Indians 3
Jose Abreu and Avisail Garcia homered and Chris Sale struck out 6 for his second win as the White Sox beat the Indians. Mike Napoli and Yan Gomes homered for the Indians.


Dodgers 3 Giants 2 (10)
Charlie Culberson doubled in Corey Seagar in the 10th inning and Kenley Jansen recorded his second save of the season as the Dodgers beat the Giants in 10 innings. Madison Bumgarner and Ehire Adrianza homered for the Giants.


Astros 6 Brewers 4
Colby Rasmus hit 2 home runs and Tyler White also added a home run as the Astros took the victory over the Brewers. Scooter Gennett and Kirk Nieuwenhuis homered for the Brewers.


Cardinals 12 Braves 2
Carlos Martinez knocked in 2 runs at the plate and struck out 5 to get the win on the mound as the Cardinals kept the Braves winless. Nick Markakis had an RBI double and Freedie Freeman had an RBI single.


Phillies 1 Mets 0
Ryan Howard hit a solo home run in the 4th for the Phillies lone run and Vince Velasquez went 6 innings and struck out 9 as the Phillies shut out the Mets. Bartolo Colon struck out 7 in 6 innings of work.


Royals 7 Twins 0
Ian Kennedy went 6.2 innings, striking out 7 while giving up 5 hits and Mike Moustakas, Lorenzo Cain, and Kendrys Morales homered as the Royals kept the Twins winless. Eduardo Escobar had 2 hits for the Twins.


Cubs 4 Diamondbacks 2
Kris Bryant had 2 doubles and an RBI and Kyle Hendricks had 5 strikeouts in 6.2 innings as the Cubs took the victory. Brandon Drury had an RBI double for the Diamondbacks.


Padres 16 Rockies 3
Matt Kemp went 3 for 5 with 2 HRs and 5 RBIs. Wil Myers and Abington Heights Graduate Cory Spangenberg each homered as the Padres won their 2nd straight game over the Rockies. Carlos Gonzalez and Ryan Raburn each had RBIs for the Rockies.


Rangers 4 Angels 1
Adrian Beltre went 3 for 4 with 2 2Bs and a home run and Cole Hamels improved to 2-0 as the Rangers knocked off the Angels. Albert Pujols drove in the Angels lone run with an RBI groundout.


Athletics 6 Mariners 1
Josh Reddick hit a 2-run home run and Rich Hill struck out 10 in 6 innings as the A's beat the Mariners. Chris Ianetta homered for the Mariners.
