Rodriguez Slam propels Railriders in 12

The Railriders came back home for a seven game homestand as they started a four game series with the Pawtucket Red Sox. Caleb Smith starts for the Railriders and the Red Sox had Brian Johnson get the start. Steve Selsky hit a two out single to right but a forceout would end the top half of the first. Tyler Wade led off with a deep home run to right center field for a 1-0 Railriders lead. Dustin Fowler would hit a single to right and would steal second on the next batter. Clint Frazier would draw a walk. After a forceout and a strikeout, Mason Williams would bring home Fowler on an RBI single for a 2-0 Railriders lead. A flyout would end the inning. Smith would throw a 1-2-3 frame in the second for the Railriders. Johnson would answer with a 1-2-3 inning of his own for the Red Sox. Dan Butler would reach on an error to lead off the third. After a strikeout, Rusney Castillo brought home Butler on an RBI double to cut the lead to 2-1. After a lineout, Pawtucket would take the lead on a two run home run by Steve Selsky for a 3-2 Pawtucket lead. Sam Travis would single to center and Ryan Court drew a walk but a lineout would end the Top of the third. Johnson would throw a 1-2-3 third to keep the one run lead. Smith would throw a 1-2-3 fourth for the Railriders. Cito Culver would reach on an error to lead off the inning. Culver would move to second on a sacrifice bunt. Mark Payton would draw a walk but a strikeout and a lineout would end the inning. Smith threw a 1-2-3 fifth for the Railriders. Wade drew a leadoff walk, then stole second on the next batter. Dustin Fowler brought home Wade on an RBI single to tie the game at 3. After a flyout, Mike Ford would single to right but a forceout and a flyout would end the inning. JR Graham would come in to pitch for the Railriders. Travis led off with a single to center. Ryan Court would then double to right, moving Travis to third. Travis would score on an RBI groundout by Jantzen Witte to give the Red Sox the lead once again 4-3. On the next batter, Allen Craig would hit a grounder to short and threw home to Eddy Rodriguez to get Court out at home. Butler would single to right but a popout would end the inning. Eddy Rodriguez would hit a single to left but Johnson got a 5-4-3 double play to end the inning. Tyler Jones came in to pitch the seventh for the Railriders and threw a 1-2-3 inning. Dustin Fowler would hit a one out triple to right. Pawtucket went to bullpen, bringing in Kyle Martin to replace Brian Johnson. Clint Frazier would fly out to left and Fowler would try to score but was tagged out at the plate for the final out of the seventh. Jones threw a 1-2-3 eighth for the Railriders. Mason Williams hit a two out single to left, but a strikeout would end the eighth. Tyler Jones would throw his third straight 1-2-3 inning as the Railriders still trailed 4-3 going to the bottom of the ninth. Blaine Boyer came in for the save for Pawtucket. Tyler Wade drew a two out walk. Dustin Fowler tied the game up 4-4 with a RBI single to score Wade. Boyer would get a strikeout to get the Red Sox into free baseball tied up at 4. Ernesto Frieri came in to pitch for the Railriders and threw a 1-2-3 inning. Chandler Shepherd came in to pitch the tenth for the Red Sox. Culver drew a one out walk. On the next batter, Culver would get thrown out trying to steal second and a groundout would end the inning as we went to the eleventh. Frieri threw a 1-2-3 eleventh for the Railriders. Payton hit a leadoff single, then advanced to second on a Eddy Rodriguez sacrifice bunt. After a popout, Wade would single and Fowler would be intentionally walked to load the bases but a groundout to get the game to the 12th inning. Dan Butler hit a single to left. After a strikeout, Castillo drew a walk. A groundout would end the inning. Culver draw a one out walk. Mason Williams followed with a single, then Mark Payton would single to load the bases. Brandon Workman came in to pitch for the Red Sox. Eddy Rodriguez would hit a walkoff grand slam as the Railriders took down the Red Sox 8-4 in 12 innings
