Red Sox comeback to take down Railriders

The SWB Railriders and the Pawtucket Red Sox continued their three game series on Wednesday night. The Railriders looked to split the series while the Red Sox looked to take the second game. Brian Johnson got the start for Pawtucket. The Railriders brought Brady Lail to the mound. Tyler Wade led off with a single to right then Dustin Fowler followed with a walk. Tyler Wade moved to third on a flyout to center. Fowler would be thrown out trying to steal second. Ji-Man Choi would drive home Wade on a single to center for a 1-0 Railriders lead. A flyout would end the Top of the first. Brock Holt drew a two out walk but a strikeout ended the inning. Mason Williams hit a single to left with one out. Cito Culver doubled home Williams for a 2-0 Railriders lead. Billy Fleming hit a single to move Culver to third. Wade would bring home Culver on a forceout for the 3-0 lead. A popout would end the inning. Lail threw a 1-2-3 second inning for the Railriders. Choi drew a one out walk but a groundout and a strikeout ended the inning. Lail threw another 1-2-3 inning in the third for the Railriders. Mason Williams started off the fourth with a bunt single and moved to second on a Culver sacrifice bunt but a flyout and a groundout prevented Williams from scoring. Steve Selsky would hit a  two out single but a strikeout would keep the Red Sox off the board. Clint Frazier hit a one out single. After a flyout, Kyle Higashioka hit a double to move Frazier to third but a groundout ended the top of the fifth. Lail threw a 1-2-3 fifth to keep the shutout going. Williams led off with a single to center. After a groundout, Billy Fleming singled to left moving Williams to third. However a groundout ended the top half of the sixth. Heiker Meneses drew a leadoff walk. After a groundout and a flyout, Brock Holt would hit a two run homer to right to cut the Railriders lead to 3-2. A groundout would end the sixth. Johnson would throw a 1-2-3 seventh for the Red Sox. Giovanny Gallegos came in to pitch the seventh for the Railriders. Jentzen Witte drew a one out walk, then Matt Dominguez would give the Red Sox the lead on a homer to right for a 4-3 lead. Back-to-back strikeouts ended the seventh. Kyle Martin came in to pitch the eighth for the Red Sox and threw a 1-2-3 inning. Tyler Webb came in to pitch the eighth and would strike out the side to keep it a one run game. Noe Ramirez came in for the save in the ninth for the Red Sox. Dustin Fowler would keep the game alive with a two out single to center but Ramirez got Clint Frazier to fly out to center to end the inning as the Red Sox took the second game of the three game set 4-3 over the Railriders.

Thoughts on the game: Great comeback by the Red Sox. They used instant offense in the game and ended up to comeback from the 3-0 deficit. Brady Lail had possibly the best start of the season but the bullpen just gave up one bad pitch and went over the wall. The Red Sox only had 3 hits and two were home runs.
