Nanticoke takes down Wyoming Area
The Wyoming Area Warriors traveled to Nanticoke to take on the Trojans. Nanticoke has already clinched the WVC Division 2 Title and the number 2 seed in the District 2 4A playoffs. The Trojans also came in missing Trahjan Krupinski who is out of the lineup with an injury. Wyoming Area is currently the number 4 seed in the District 2 4A playoffs and could clinch the spot with a win. Who would come out on top in the regular season finale for both teams? Let's find out!
The Warriors started off the game by being patient and waiting for their shot and would have a 9-3 lead. However, the Trojans began to get aggressive and would cut their lead to two with a basket by Jake Krupinski and a three pointer from Nate Kreitzer to cut the Warriors lead to 9-8 at the end of the first quarter. Jake Krupinski and Colby Butczynski would give the Trojans a five point lead but a three pointer by Dylan Melberger cut the lead to one. The Warriors would keep the game close as they trailed 20-17 at halftime.
Jake Krupinski would start the second half by scoring the Trojans first five points to increase the lead to eight. The Trojans lead would be as high as eleven but the Warriors' Sam Greenfield hit back to back three pointers and Dylan Melberger hit a three to make it a two point game. However, the Trojans would score the final five points highlighted by a steal and a outlet pass to Kreitzer as Nanticoke took a 35-28 lead to the fourth quarter. Greenfield would score four straight points to cut the lead to five but the Trojans would outscore the Warriors 14-4 after that for the 51-37 victory over Wyoming Area.
Thoughts on the game: The Trojans played very well tonight. Despite missing one of their best players, they looked like they didn't miss a beat. Several players played very well, including freshman Jake Krupinski, who scored 15 points. For the Warriors, Sam Greenfield played very well, scoring 17 points and Dylan Melberger had a good game with nine points. Good luck to both teams in the postseason.
