Berwick advances to semifinals

The Berwick Lady Bulldogs and Lake-Lehman Lady Black Knights traveled to Wyoming Area High School in the District 2 4A Quarterfinals. Both teams come with hopes of getting to the District Semifinals. Berwick made the District Finals a year ago and are looking to get back to the Arena. Lake-Lehman is hoping to get to the Semifinals and be one step closer to the District Title. Who come out on top in this four vs five matchup? Let's find out!
With the game tied at 5 early on, Berwick's Reese Mensinger would hit a three to give the Lady Bulldogs an 8-5 lead but the Black Knights would go on a 7-1 run to end the first. Highlighted by a Madison Borum basket at the buzzer for a 12-9 Lady Knights lead. Berwick would go on a 13-4 run to take a 22-16 lead and would only give up one Lake-Lehman basket in the quarter for a 29-18 lead at halftime.
The Lady Bulldogs started the second half on an 11-0 run to increase their lead to 22. The Berwick would be stopped when the Lady Knights' Savannah Purdy scored five straight points. Berwick would lead 44-30 at the end of third quarter and would cruise to a 61-48 victory over Lake-Lehman to advance to the District 2 4A Semifinals.

Thoughts on the game: The Bulldogs looked like they would be in some trouble when the first quarter came to an end. However, Berwick played very well in the second quarter and never looked back from there. Reese Mensinger had a really good game, scoring 19 and was also impressed by Katie Starr, who also had a good game with 13 points. For Lake-Lehman, I was impressed by them. They have some pretty good players and most of them are juniors, sophomores or freshman. For the game, Corinna Scoblick impressed me, scoring 13 points.
