Nanticoke gets past Wyoming Area


The Nanticoke Lady Trojanettes and the Wyoming Area Lady Warriors came into King's College's Scandlon Gymnasium for their District 2 4A Semifinal matchup. The Trojanettes are looking for avenge their loss to Wyoming Area on the final day of the regular season and to get back to the District Title game at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Who would come out on top in this Semifinal matchup? Let's find out!
 The Warriors' Cassidy Orzel would get off to a good start, scoring six of the Warriors' 10 points as they had a 10-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Warriors would build up to a nine point lead but Nanticoke would keep coming back as they would go on a 8-1 run to cut the lead to two. However, the Warriors' Nicole Silinskie would hit three of four free throws as the Warriors would take a 21-16 lead at halftime.
 After a Warriors got the first basket of the third quarter, the Trojanettes started going on a roll. Nanticoke would go on an 11-0 run for a 27-23 lead. However, baskets by Cassidy Orzel and a basket by Sarah Holweg to take a 29-27 lead. However, Lisa Radziak would tie with a basket. Cassidy Orzel would give the Warriors the lead again but Alyssa Lewis would hit a three pointer as the Trojanettes took a 32-31 lead at the end of the third quarter. Silinskie would give the Warriors an early 34-32 lead but Lewis would tie it up with a basket and Radziak would give Nanticoke the lead with a free throw at 35-34. Sarah Holweg would give the Warriors the lead once again with a pair of free throws for a 36-35 lead. Nanticoke would take the lead with a pair of free throws by Jil Baron. Lisa Radziak would increase their lead to three with a bucket but the Warriors tied the game with a Silinskie three pointer. After two back-and-forth possessions where the game would get tied up once again, Lisa Radziak would give the Trojanettes the lead at 43-41. The defense of Nanticoke wouldn't give up another Wyoming Area and Alyssa Lewis would hit a bunch of free throws as the Trojanettes advanced to the 4A District Championship at the Mohegan Sun Arena with a 50-43 victory over Wyoming Area.

Thoughts on the game: It was a really good game by both teams. Alyssa Lewis had a great game for the Trojanettes. She kept the Trojanettes in the game and also did a great job in the second half. Jil Baron also had a great job on the boards for the Trojanettes. For the Warriors, it was a great game by them. Cassidy Orzel and Nicole Silinskie had great games and were the reason why the Warriors were on the verge of knocking out the defending District Champions.
