Eagles get past the Falcons

The Philadelphia Eagles opened up the season as defending Super Bowl Champs. They would play host to the Atlanta Falcons in a rematch of last year's NFC Divisional Playoff. The Eagles would start Nick Foles at quarterback as Carson Wentz is still recovering from his knee injury. The Falcons went to the Super Bowl two seasons ago. Who would come out on top in this playoff rematch? Let's find out!
The Falcons would start with the ball and would drive down the field on 10 plays and would face a fourth and goal at the one yard line and the Eagles defense would stop them for a loss of one and would get the ball. The Eagles would go three and out on their first drive. Atlanta would go nine plays that would end with a 21 yard field goal by Matt Bryant for a 3-0 Falcons lead. The Eagles would get a first down but two sacks would end the drive and would result in a punt. The Falcons would go three and out. The Eagles would go 14 plays that would end with a 26 yard field goal by Jake Elliott to tie the game at three midway through the second quarter. The Falcons would take the lead back with an eight play drive that would end with a 52 yard field goal by Bryant for a 6-3 Atlanta lead and that would be the score at halftime.
The first drive of the second half by both teams would end in punts. The Eagles would go 11 plays that would result in a one yard touchdown by Jay Ajayi for a 10-6 Eagles lead. The drive was highlighted by Nelson Agholor going to Nick Foles for 15 yards on third and 5 at the Falcons 41 yard line. The Falcons and Eagles would trade three and outs and it looked like the Falcons would go three and out again but the ball would hit an Eagles player and the Falcons would recover at the Eagles 32 yard line. The Falcons would be unable to score as Matt Ryan's pass would be intercepted by Rasual Douglas. The Eagles couldn't capitalize as Nick Foles' pass would be picked off by Jones and would go 20 yards to the Eagles 27 yard line. Two plays later, Tevin Coleman would go in from eight yards out for the touchdown. The PAT would be missed for a 12-10 Falcons drive. The Eagles and Falcons would trade three and outs. The Eagles would get the ball with 4:51 to go in the game. The Eagles would face a third and 8 and Foles would find Darren Sproles for nine yards. On a third and 2, Corey Clement would go for 21 yards to the Falcons 14. On second and 7, Ajayi would score his second touchdown of the game and he would also go in for two points and an 18-12 Eagles lead with 2:19 to go. The Falcons would take over and on second and 4, Matt Ryan would find Julio Jones for 36 yards to the Eagles 33 yard line as we head to the two-minute warning. The Falcons would face a third and 17 at the Eagles 40 and Ryan would find Jones for 18 yards to the 22 yard line. On third and 8, Ryan would find Mohammed Sanu for 10 for a first and goal at the 10 yard line with 23 seconds to go. In a very familiar situation, the Falcons would face a fourth and goal at the 10 yard line and the pass would go incomplete but an illegal contact penalty by the Eagles would give the Falcons another chance. With one second left, Matt Ryan would try and go to Julio Jones who would catch but was unable to come down with both feet in bounds and the Eagles would take their first win of the season as they beat the Falcons 18-12.
