Almost to Halfway

Hard to believe that we're close to the halfway point of the HS Football season. Soon enough, the end of summer will be here and the days will get colder. I'd say the days will be getting shorter but that's been happening since June. With all that being said, here is what happened this week in HS and College Football.

Week 4 HS Football Scores
Dallas 41 Pittston Area 21
Mountaineers RB Leonard Kelley ran for 225 yards and three touchdowns and QB Michael Starbuck threw for 174 yards and ran in for three touchdowns as Dallas improved to 4-0 as they took the victory at Pittston Area. Patriots QB Mike Nocito threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns.

Lackawanna Trail 21 Dunmore 15
Lions QB Nathan Rolka ran for 99 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 65 yards. RB Ray Meinikoff ran for 98 yards and a touchdown as Lackawanna Trail would get a big victory over Dunmore. Bucks RB Rayshaun Dawkins would rush for 125 yards and two touchdowns.

Lake-Lehman 40 Carbondale 0
Black Knights QB Ethan Adams threw for 173 yards and three touchdowns and Ryan Eidan ran for 67 yards and a touchdown as Lake-Lehman would blowout Carbondale. Chargers RB Nick Vadella ran for 60 yards.

Meyers 60 Montrose 0
Mohawks RB Kevin Dessoye ran for two touchdowns and Nazir Dunell added a touchdown run as Meyers would take down Montrose. Meteors QB Ethan Cina would have 20 rushing yards on the game.

Northwest 48 Holy Cross 6
Rangers QB David Piestrak would throw for 144 yards and two touchdowns and also added 61 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Wideout Connor Hazlet added six catches for 98 yards and a touchdown as Northwest took their first win of the year as they blewout Holy Cross. Crusaders RB Jeremy Fick ran for 65 yards.

Pottsville 35 Crestwood 6
Crimson Tide RB Justice Minor ran for 108 yards and two touchdowns as Pottsville would take the road victory at Crestwood. Comets QB Chase Passman threw a touchdown pass to Ryan Petrosky for the game's opening score.

Riverside 42 Hanover Area 0
Vikings QB Johnny Gilchrist threw for 249 yards and four touchdowns and Kristian Pon ran for 57 yards and a touchdown as Riverside would take down Hanover Area. Hawkeyes QB Aaron Hummer would throw for 56 yards in the loss.

Susquehanna 21 Mid Valley 0
Sabers QB CJ Stone threw a touchdown pass to Mason Deakin and Sam Cosmello ran for 53 yards and a touchdown as Susquehanna would shut out Mid Valley. Spartans RB Colin Hazelton ran for 45 yards.

Tunkhannock 21 Coughlin 19
Tigers RB Garrett Hopkins ran for 72 yards and a touchdown and Jack Chilson threw for 88 yards as Tunkhannock got their first win of the season by beating Coughlin. The Crusaders' Rafael McCoy had 10 catches for 123 yards and a touchdown and also had 99 yards on the ground and a touchdown.

Valley View 27 Scranton Prep 15
Cougars QB Janaasah Boone threw for 112 yards and two touchdowns and wideout Zack Kovalchik had three catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns as Valley View snapped Scranton Prep's 23 game winning streak. Cavaliers RB Ryan Cosgrove rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns.

Wallenpaupack 30 Scranton 14
Buckhorns QB Tom McCormick threw two touchdowns and wideout Anthony Dalessio had four catches for 63 yards and two touchdowns as Wallenpaupack kept Scranton winless. Knights RB Jerrod Brown ran for 53 yards and a touchdown.

West Scranton 28 Lakeland 20
Invaders RB Kevin Williams ran for 164 yards and two touchdowns and QB Nick Gioia threw for 124 yards and two touchdowns as West Scranton handed Lakeland their first loss of the season. Chiefs wideout Thomas Pidgeon had seven catches for 152 yards and a touchdown.

Western Wayne 42 GAR 7
Wildcats RB Kobe Sauter ran for 90 yards and four touchdowns and QB Matt Valanda threw for 65 yards and a touchdown as Western Wayne would blow out GAR. The Grenadiers' Rodsheen Ayer had 86 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Williamsport 64 Hazleton Area 63
Millionaires RB Treyson Potts ran for 251 yards and four touchdowns and added a kick return for a touchdown as Williamsport would take a high-scoring affair as they took the road victory in Hazleton Area. Cougars RB Damon Horton would run for 282 yards and a school record seven touchdowns.

Wyoming Area 35 Nanticoke 7
Warriors QB Dominic DeLuca ran for 82 yards and two touchdowns and Corey Mruk added 67 yards on the ground as Wyoming Area stayed undefeated as they beat Nanticoke. Trojans QB Colby Butczynski ran for 111 yards and a touchdown.

Old Forge 42 Holy Redeemer 0
Blue Devils QB Dante Lucarelli threw for 220 yards and four touchdowns and RB Kevin Pepsin would run for 94 yards as Old Forge would shutout Holy Redeemer. Royals RB Peter Shay would run for 20 yards.

North Pocono 41 Abington Heights 14
Trojans RB Jacob Owens ran for 96 yards and three touchdowns and QB Donny Blaine threw for 148 yards and a touchdown as North Pocono took down Abington Heights on Saturday afternoon. Comets QB George Tinsley threw for 155 yards and two touchdowns.

Delaware Valley 21 Honesdale 20 (2OT)
Warriors QB Zack Scillia threw for 108 yards and had a rushing touchdown and RB Josh Balcarcel added a rushing touchdown as Delaware Valley would take down Honesdale in double overtime. Hornets QB Ethan Dunn would throw for 142 yards and two touchdowns.

Bulldogs QB Jake Fromm threw for 128 yards and three touchdowns and Tyler Simmons had a 56 yard touchdown run as Georgia would blow out Mid Tennessee. Blue Raiders QB Brent Stockstill would throw for 138 yards and a touchdown.

Sooners QB Kyler Murray threw for 348 yards and three touchdowns and RB Trey Sermon ran for 74 yards and a touchdown as Oklahoma would knock off Iowa State. Cyclones RB David Montgomery ran for 82 yards and a touchdown.

(2) Clemson 38 Georgia Southern 7
Tigers RB Travid Etienne rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns and QB Trevor Lawrence threw for 194 yards and a touchdown as Clemson blew out Georgia Southern. Eagles QB Shai Werts had a rushing touchdown for the team's only score.

(21) Miami (FL) 49 Toledo 24
Hurricanes QB Malik Rosier threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 80 yards and three touchdowns and RB DeeJay Dallas ran for 110 yards and a touchdown as Miami knocked off Toledo. Rockets QB Mitchell Guadagni threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns.

Nittany Lions QB Trace McSorley threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns and also added 54 yards and three touchdowns on the ground and Mark Allen ran for 62 yards and a touchdown as Penn State would knock off Kent State. Golden Flashes QB Woody Barrett would throw for 176 yards and a touchdown.

(9) Stanford 30 UC Davis 10
Cardinal QB KJ Costello threw for 214 yards and two touchdowns and Cameron Scarlett added a rushing touchdown as Stanford would beat UC Davis. Aggies QB Hunter Rodrigues would throw the team's only touchdown of the game.

(8) Notre Dame 22 Vanderbilt 17
Fighting Irish QB Brandon Wimbush threw for 122 yards and added 84 rushing yards and a touchdown as Notre Dame would take down Vanderbilt. Commodores QB Kyle Shurmur threw for 326 yards and a touchdown.

BYU 24 (6) Wisconsin 21
Cougars RB Squally Canada ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns and Aleva Hifo threw a 31 yard touchdown pass to Moroni Laulu-Pututau as BYU upset Wisconsin at home. Badgers RB Taiwan Deal had two rushing touchdowns.

(12) LSU 22 (7) Auburn 21
LSU QB Joe Burrow threw for 249 yards and a touchdown and Cole Tracy kicked a 42 yard field goal as time expired as LSU took down Auburn on the road. Auburn RB JaTarvious Whitlow ran for 104 yards and a touchdown.

(19) Michigan 45 SMU 20
Wolverines QB Shea Patterson threw for 237 yards and three touchdowns and wideout Donovan Peoples-Jones had four catches for 90 yards and three touchdowns as Michigan knocked off SMU. Mustangs wideout James Proche had 11 catches for 166 yards and two touchdowns.

Cowboys QB Taylor Cornelius threw for 243 yards and a touchdown and ran for 41 yards and two touchdowns as Oklahoma State would take down Boise State. Broncos QB Brett Rypien threw for 380 yards and three touchdowns.

Ducks QB Justin Herbert threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns and tight end Jacob Breeland had three catches for 92 yards and a touchdown as Oregon would take down San Jose State. Spartans QB Josh Love threw for 238 yards and a touchdown.

Crimson Tide QB Tua Tagovailoa threw for 191 yards and two touchdowns and wideout Jerry Jeudy had three catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns as Alabama would blowout Mississippi. Rebels QB Jordan Ta'amu threw for 133 yards and a touchdown.

Bulldogs QB Nick Fitzgerald threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 107 yards and four touchdowns as Mississippi State would take down Louisiana. Ragin Cajuns QB Andre Nunez would throw for 224 yards and a touchdown.

Longhorns QB Sam Ehlinger threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns and also added a rushing touchdown and wideout Lil'Jordan Humphrey had four catches for 84 yards and a touchdown as Texas upset USC. Trojans RB Stephen Carr had a rushing touchdown.

Buckeyes QB Dwayne Haskins threw for 344 yards and two touchdowns and also added a rushing touchdown and KJ Hill had six catches for 95 yards and a touchdown as Ohio State would take down TCU. Horned Frogs RB Darius Anderson rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns.

Huskies RB Myles Gaskin ran for 143 yards and a touchdown and Jake Browning threw for 155 yards and a touchdown as Washington would take down Utah on the road. Utes RB Zack Moss ran for 67 yards and a touchdown.

Aztecs RB Juwan Washington ran for 138 yards and a touchdown and Chase Jasmin added 112 rushing yards and a touchdown as San Diego State would take the victory over Arizona State. Sun Devils QB Manny Wilkins would threw for 341 yards and two touchdowns.

King's 65 Hartwick 48
Monarchs QB Tommy Klock threw for 114 yards and a touchdown and RB Jordan Downes rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns as King's took a high-scoring affair over Hartwick. Hartwick QB Bryce Macina threw for 324 yards and two touchdowns and added three rushing touchdowns.

Delaware Valley 21 Wilkes 10
Delaware Valley QB Dashawn Darden ran for 145 yards and two touchdowns and Quadir Strother added a rushing touchdown as Delaware Valley would take the home victory over Wilkes. Colonels QB Jose Tabora threw for 214 yards and a touchdown.

Misericordia 36 Widener 35
Cougars QB Brady Williams threw for 143 yards and a touchdown and also added 122 yards on the ground and a touchdown as Misericordia would take a 36-35 victory over Widener. Widener's Randle would rush for 180 yards and two touchdowns.

Mercyhurst 14 Bloomsburg 10
Mercyhurst QB Doug Altavilla threw for 146 yards and a touchdown and also added a rushing touchdown and Garrett Owens ran for 87 yards on the ground as Mercyhurst knocked off Bloomsburg. Huskies RB Alex Gooden ran for 99 yards and a touchdown.
