Mother Nature's Job

Well last week's weather was not very favorable. In fact, it made me type out a tweet going to Mother Nature on why she was not doing her job. I traveled to Berwick last Tuesday for Crestwood/Berwick and the umpires called the game due to a snow squall. Wednesday was a nice day but not many fields were ready for play as the rain on Sunday and Monday hurt. Thursday is when some snow showers hit and postponed all the games on the Thursday slate. The weather did improve on Friday and Saturday and games were played and this week looks to break the streak of cold weather (hopefully). With all that being said, here are a few things that occurred this past week.

-North Pocono took two of three from Wallenpaupack this past week, taking Tuesday's matchup 7-3. Took the victory 13-3 on Friday. The Buckhorns would take Game 3 on Saturday 5-4.

-Delaware Valley would take two games from West Scranton to improve to 5-0 on the season. They took Game 1 5-4 on Wednesday. They took the second game 4-1 on Saturday.

-Holy Redeemer started off the season at 0-3 but it looks as though they have hit their stride and have won three straight. They improved to 3-3 this week as they beat Northwest 14-2 on Friday and then Meyers 9-2 on Saturday.

-Valley West stayed unbeaten on the season with a 6-0 victory over Nanticoke on Friday. Then on Saturday took down Berwick 2-0.

-Dallas stayed undefeated with an 8-2 victory over Hazleton Area. The Mountaineers haven't lost a game since April of last year. However a big game looms as they host Valley West on Monday.

-The Dallas softball team went 2-0 on the week with a 15-3 victory over Crestwood on Tuesday and then on Friday took down Nanticoke 3-1 at home. The Lady Mountaineers scored three runs in the sixth inning for the victory.

-Holy Redeemer's Morgan Bienkowski threw a five inning no-hitter over GAR. The Royals took it 14-0. They remain unbeaten in league play.

That is going to do it for this week's article. Hopefully the weather gets better in the last week of April and as we head towards the stretch run towards the playoffs in May.
