Crestwood Staff dominates in win over Scranton

The Crestwood Comets and Scranton Knights came to PNC Field on Saturday afternoon. The game is an exhibition game. Wyatt Kindler got the start for the Comets. The Knights went to Jake Weslowski on the mound.
 Colin Macko hit a one out double to start the top of the first then Justin Darden followed with a single to move Macko to third. Macko would be out at home on a fielder's choice. Darden would score on a passed ball for a 1-0 Crestwood lead. A strikeout would end the inning. Kindler would go 1-2-3 in the bottom of the first. Mick Bafunno would lead off with a single then Brandon Brozena would single to move Bafunno to second. Corey Chalk would move them over to second and third on a bunt then Matt Taleroski would hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Bafunno for a 2-0 lead. A strikeout would end the inning. Kindler would throw another 1-2-3 inning in the second. Kenny Kretsch would come to pitch for the Knights. Macko would hit a one out single then Darden would hit a triple to score Macko for a 3-0 Comets advantage. Evan Knapp would single home Darden for a 4-0 lead. Mike Palmiero would single but the Knights would get out of it with a unassisted double play at first. Nick Vital would come in to pitch for the Comets. Steve Paszek would lead off with a walk but a 5-4-3 double play would negate the leadoff single. Brian Hobbs would walk then move to second on a balk then Robbie McAndrew would double to score Hobbs to cut the lead to 4-1. A flyout would end the inning. Jason Carpenter would come in to pitch for Scranton. Brozena would lead off with a single but Carpenter would retire the next three to end the top of the fourth. Francisco Mendoza came in to pitch for Crestwood. Jason Arden would get a leadoff walk, after a strikeout, Carpenter would single. After another strikeout, Kretsch would walk to load the bases but a flyout to right ended the threat. Jason Ardan came in to pitch for Scranton. Don Shaw would hit a one out single but a fielder's choice and a strikeout would end the top half of the fifth. Eric Witner came in to pitch for the Comets and would throw a 1-2-3 inning. Steve Paszek would come in to pitch for the Knights. Austin Anthony would lead off with a single. After a strikeout, Anthony would get called out for batter's interference. Wyatt Kindler would hit a single then Stew Caladie followed with a single but a strikeout would end the inning. Joey Hull would draw a one out walk but would get picked off trying to go to second then a flyout would end the sixth. Brad Papura would hit a one out single then Sam Daniel hit a single to right. However an infield fly and the ball would be dropped and an out would be made at third for the third out of the inning. Connor Kaminski would come in for the save for the Comets and would throw a 1-2-3 inning as the Comets knocked off Scranton 4-1.

Thoughts on the game: Overall, wasn't a bad game by the Comets pitching staff. They went five deep and gave up two hits, five walks and struck out four. It was a pretty quick game. For Scranton, Robbie McAndrew had a great game, going 1 for 3 with a double.
