Last week, it was mixed precipation. This week, it was plain rain that postponed Wednesday and Friday's action. However, we were able to get quite a bit of baseball and Softball action in this week. There were quite some interesting results. So with that being said, here is what went down this week in Baseball and Softball in District 2.
-Dallas knocked off Valley West on Monday 14-4 then knocked off Coughlin 13-0 on Thursday. On Friday, they would fall to Pittston Area 10-2 to snap a 20 game winning streak that dated back to last season. Interesting enough, the Mountaineers' winning streak started last year by beating Pittston Area and then almost a year later ended at the hands of the Patriots.
-Hanover Area stayed undefeated on the season with a 17-7 victory on Tuesday over GAR then beat Holy Redeemer on Thursday 7-5. Matt Clarke had an incredible week with two home runs and 10 RBIs. He also struck out 12 on the week.
-North Pocono beat Delaware Valley 11-1 to hand the Warriors their first loss of the season. North Pocono is now the top seed in the District 2 5A Playoffs.
-Valley View has looked impressive this week as they knocked off West Scranton 9-1 on Monday. Then on Tuesday, beat Scranton 9-0.
-Holy Cross Softball defeated Mid Valley 2-0 to give the Spartans their first loss of the season.
-The Holy Redeemer Lady Royals continued their run as they beat Lake-Lehman 6-1 on Monday then MMI 18-0 on Thursday.
-The Wyoming Area Lady Warriors went 2-0 on the week as they knocked off rival Pittston Area 6-1 and then beat Crestwood 12-5 on Thursday.
