Crestwood combines for one-hitter against Wyoming Area

The Crestwood Comets took to the road as they traveled to Wyoming Area. The Comets looked to snap a three game league losing streak. The Warriors are looking to get back in the win column after losing to Hazleton Area on Monday. Brandon Brozena got the start for the Comets. The Warriors went to Brad Barletta.

Crestwood's Colin Macko would draw a one out walk then Justin Darden would follow by getting hit by a pitch then Evan Knapp would single home Macko for a 1-0 Crestwood lead. Mike Palmiero would hit a single to load the bases. Brandon Brozena would bring in Darden and Knapp on a fielder's choice for a 3-0 Comets lead. A groundout would end the inning. Brozena would throw a 1-2-3 first for the Comets. Barletta would throw a 1-2-3 second for Wyoming Area. Brozena would throw another 1-2-3 inning in the second for Crestwood. Macko would lead off the top of the third with a walk but Barletta would retire the next three to end the Crestwood threat. Aaron Zezza would hit a one out infield single but back to back groundouts would keep the Warriors off the scoreboard. Wyatt Kindler would hit a two out single but a flyout would end the Top of the fourth. After Brozena got back to back strikeouts, he would leave the game due to an undisclosed injury. Sophomore Brad Papura would come in to pitch for Crestwood. Matt Wright would reach on an error but Papura would get a flyout to end the fourth. Darden would hit a two out single but a fielder's choice would end the Top of the fifth. Papura would throw a 1-2-3 fifth for the Comets. Barletta would throw a 1-2-3 sixth for Wyoming Area. Marc Minichello would draw a one out walk but would get thrown out at second for the second out then Papura would get a strikeout to end the sixth. Barletta would throw a 1-2-3 seventh as the Warriors had a last chance. Papura would throw a 1-2-3 seventh to get the save as the Comets would take the road victory 3-0 over Wyoming Area.

Thoughts on the game: Really good pitching on both sides. After Brad Barletta gave up those three runs in the first inning, he seemed to settle down. He had a really good outing. He gave up four hits, while striking out four and walking two. For Crestwood, Brad Papura pitched great despite the circumstance. After Brozena left the game, who also pitched really well, he didn't give up a hit while striking out three and walking one.
