Royals take crucial road win at Nanticoke

The Holy Redeemer Royals traveled to Nanticoke High School to take on the Trojans. The Royals needed a win to keep up with Wyoming Seminary in Division 3. The Trojans looked to improve their division record to 4-0 on the season. Who would come out on top in this big time Wyoming Valley Conference matchup? Let's get into the game! The Trojans started the scoring with a Trahjan Krupinski basket but the Royals would quickly get baskets to take a 4-2 lead. A Nate Kreitzer three pointer would give the Trojans a 5-4 lead but the Royals would go on a 7-0 run to end the quarter as the Royals would lead 11-5 after 1. After a pair of Collin Cook free throws, the Trojans would outscore the Royals 6-2 to end the quarter as the Royals led 15-11 at halftime. The Trojans and Royals would have some red shot shooting during the third quarter. Nick Prociak started off the second half scoring then Nate Kreitzer would hit a three to cut the lead to three then Collin Cook hit a basket to increase the lead to five but another Kreitzer three cut the lead to two points. The Royals increased the lead to seven with a 5-0 run. With time winding down and the Trojans down by six, freshman Jake Krupinski would hit a buzzer beating three to end the third quarter and the Royals would lead 28-25 after 3. The Royals red hot shooting would continue and they also played shutdown defense as they held the Trojans to two points as Holy Redeemer outscored Nanticoke 14-2 as the Royals took the crucial victory on the road over the Nanticoke Trojans.

Thoughts on the game: It wasn't the best played game but it was a pretty good game through three quarters. Pretty balanced scoring for the Royals with Prociak and Cook scoring 12 points each and JD Turosky adding 10 in the victory. For Nanticoke, it's an overall very young team. Kreitzer had a good game, scoring 11 points as did Trahjan Krupinski who had seven points.
