Falcons take down Rams
The Atlanta Falcons traveled to Los Angeles and the LA Coliseum to take on the Rams. The Falcons are looking to get back to the Super Bowl after falling last season. Atlanta is led by QB Matt Ryan and wideout Julio Jones. The Rams are back in the postseason for the first time since 2003. They are led by second year QB Jared Goff and RB Todd Gurley. Who would come out on top in this Saturday night Wild Card matchup? Let's get into the game! The first four possessions resulted in punts but on the second Falcons possession, on the punt, the Rams would muff the punt and would be recovered by Atlanta. The Falcons would end up getting a 29 yard field goal by Matt Bryant for a 3-0 Atlanta lead. The Rams would be forced to punt on their next possession. Atlanta would go on a nine play drive ending with a 51 yard field goal by Bryant for a 6-0 lead. The Rams would fumble on the kickoff and Atlanta would recover. The Falcons would capitalize on an eight play drive ending with a three yard touchdown run by Davonta Freeman for a 13-0 lead. The Rams would punt for the fourth time of the game. The Rams defense would force a Falcons punt. The Rams would go on a seven play drive ending with Jared Goff going to Cooper Kupp for a 14 yard score just before the two-minute warning to cut the lead to 13-7. The Falcons would punt the ball back to the Rams with 1:29 to go in the game. The Rams would go on a six play drive ending with a 35 yard field goal by Sam Ficken to make it 13-10 at halftime. The Falcons would start with the ball in the second half and went on a 16 play drive ending with a 25 yard field goal by Bryant to make it 16-10. The Rams would punt on their first possession of the second half. The Falcons would go on a 10 play drive ending with a 54 yard field goal by Bryant to make it 19-10 as we head to the end of the third quarter. The Rams would face a third and 15 and Goff would find Robert Woods for 18 yards. On the next play, Todd Gurley would go for 33 yards. The Rams would have to settle for a Ficken 32 yard field goal to cut the lead to one possession making it 19-13. First play of the Atlanta drive, Matt Ryan would find Julio Jones for 12 yards. The Falcons would face a third and 3 and Ryan would find Austin Hooper for a five yard gain and a first down. On a second and 13, Ryan would Mohammed Sanu for 53 yards on a catch and run for a first and goal at the Rams nine yard line. On third and goal, Ryan would find Julio Jones for am eight yard touchdown to make it 26-13 in favor of the Falcons with 5:48 remaining in the game. First play of the LA drive, Goff would find Kupp for 14 yards to their own 36 yard line. On second and 19, Goff would find Sammy Watkins for 23 yards to the 50 yard line. Goff would find Woods for 13 yards to the Falcons 37 yard line. The Rams would face a third and 1 and Gurley would go for eight yards to the Falcons 20 yard line. The Rams faced a fourth and 3 and Goff would find Woods who bobbled it then was able to catch it in bounds for a first and goal at the eight yard line. On third an goal, Goff went to Higbee for a five yard touchdown but upon further review, it was ruled an incomplete pass as he bobbled the ball when he hit the ground. On fourth and goal, Goff would go to Watkins but Deion Jones would force the incompletion and the Falcons would take over. The Falcons would face a third and 3 and the Rams defense would get a one yard loss and Atlanta would punt the football back to Los Angeles. The Rams would take over with 1:43 left. They faced a fourth and 6 with their season on the line and Goff would go to Woods but it fell incomplete and the Falcons would take over as they would advance to the NFC Divisional Round and will travel to Philadelphia next Saturday. They knock off the Rams with a 26-13 victory.
