Patriots get past Jacksonville to advance to the Super Bowl

The Jacksonville Jaguars traveled to Foxboro, Massachusetts to take on the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots. The Patriots are in their seventh straight AFC Championship game and are hoping to win their sixth Super Bowl and back-to-back titles. The Jaguars are looking to pull off the upset and make their first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history. Who would come on top in the AFC Championship game? Let's find out! The Patriots would start with the ball and went on a ten play drive ending with a 31 yard field goal by Stephen Gostkowski for a 3-0 Patriots lead. The drive was highlighted by Tom Brady going to Danny Amendola for 20 yards on a fourth and 1 at the Jaguars 30 yard line. The Jaguars would be forced to punt on the first possession of the game. The Patriots would get a quick first down but the Jacksonville defense would force the punt. The Jaguars would go on a seven play drive that ended with Blake Bortles going to Marcedes Lewis for a four yard touchdown for a 7-3 Jacksonville lead. The Patriots would go three and out early in the second quarter. The Jaguars would score on their second straight possession as Leonard Fournette would go in from four yards out to finish up a 10 play drive. The Patriots and Jaguars would trade punts and the Patriots would get the ball before the two-minute warning. After the two-minute warning, Brady would find Brandin Cooks for 10 yards to the Patriots 27 yard line. On second and 2, Brady would find James White for five yards. On the next play, Brady's pass would fall incomplete but the Jaguars would get called for a hit to the helmet of Rob Gronkowski. The Jaguars would get called for pass interference on the next play that would move the ball to the Jaguars 13 yard line. Next play, Brady would find Cooks for 12 yards to the one yard line and White would score from one yard out on the next play to cut the Jacksonville lead to 14-10 as we head to halftime. The Jaguars would start with the ball and go on a nine play drive that ended in a 54 yard field goal by Josh Lambo to increase the Jacksonville lead to 17-10. The Patriots would face a third and 5 and Brady would find Chris Hogan for 17 yards. However the drive would stall and end with a punt. The Jaguars and Patriots would trade three and outs. The Jaguars would start at their own nine yard line. Jacksonville would face a third and 3 and Bortles would find Marquise Lee for 18 yards. On the next play, Bortles would find Allen Hurns for 15 yards. On second and 8, Bortles found Lee again for eight yards. Fournette would go for 14 yards. The Jaguars would face a third and 8 as the third quarter comes to an end. On third and 8, Bortles' pass would fall incomplete and they would settle for a 43 yard field goal by Lambo to increase the Jaguars' lead to 20-10. On second and 8, Brady would find Cooks for 18 yards. Then, the Patriots did some trickery as Brady did a backwards pass to Danny Amendola who would go to Dion Lewis for 20 yards but Myles Jack would force a fumble and recover it. The Jaguars would be unable to capitalize as they went three and out. First play of the drive, Brady would find Cooks for 18 yards for Cooks' first 100 yard game in the postseason. After a sack on first down, the Patriots would face a third and 18 and Brady would find Amendola for 21 yards. On the next play, New England would run a flea flicker as the ball went back to Brady and would go to Phillip Dorsett for a 31 yard completion to the Jaguars 23 yard line. On second and 10, Brady would find Amendola for 14 to the Jaguars nine yard line. On first and goal, Brady would find Amendola for the touchdown to cut the lead to 20-17 with 8:44 to go. On second and 9 of the Jaguars possession, Bortles would find Allen Hurns for 20 yards. The Jaguars would be unable to move the ball any longer and would punt the ball back. The Patriots would go three and out on their next drive. The Jaguars would go three and out and on the punt, Amendola would return the punt to the Jaguars 30 yard line. Brady would find White for 15 yards. On second and 2 at the Jaguars seven yard line, Brady would sneak for two yards for a first and goal at the five yard line. On second and goal at the four yard line, Brady would find Amendola for the second time in the quarter on a four yard touchdown and would lead 24-20 with 2:48 remaining in the game. On second and 2, Bortles would find Dede Westbrook for 29 yards to the Patriots 38 yard line. On second and 10, Bortles would get sacked and would fumble but the Jaguars would recover. On third and 19, Bortles would find O'Shaughnessy for four and would face a fourth and 15 at the Patriot 43 yard line. On fourth and 15, Bortles would escape the rush and went to Westbrook but Patriots corner Stephon Gilmore would bat it away as the Patriots would take over with Jacksonville having all of their timeouts. The Patriots would face a third and 9 and Dion Lewis would go for 18 yards as the Patriots knocked off the Jaguars 24-20 to advance to Super Bowl 52.
