Panthers Devour Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins traveled to Charlotte as they took on the Carolina Panthers. The Dolphins are looking to get into second place and possibly the second wild card spot. The Panthers at 6-3 are trailing by a game of the first place New Orleans Saints and hope to stay within a game of first place. Who would come out on top in this interconference matchup on Monday night football? Let's get into the game! The Dolphins would start with the ball and on second and 4, Jay Cutler would go to Damien Williams for five yards but that would be all the Dolphins would get as they would punt the ball for the Panthers. On third and 8 of the Panthers' first possession, Cam Newton would go to Christian McCaffrey for 19 but that would be all the Panthers would get and punt the ball away. The Dolphins would go three and out on their next possession. The Panthers would go on an eleven play drive that would result in a 40 yard field goal by Graham Gano. The Dolphins would face a third and 8 and Cutler would go to Kenny Stills for 12 yards as the first quarter comes to an end. They faced a third and 7 and Cutler would go to Davante Parker for 12 yards. The drive would stop there as the Dolphins would punt. The Panthers would go on a 12 play drive that would result in a four yard touchdown run by McCaffrey to make it 10-0. The Dolphins would respond with a 10 play drive that result in a two yard touchdown pass from Jay Cutler to Julius Thomas to cut the Panthers lead to 10-7. The next Panthers possession would end in a punt. First play of the Dolphins possession would result in Cutler being intercepted by Luke Keuchly. The interception would turn into a seven yard touchdown pass from Cam Newton to Ed Dickson to make it 17-7 as we head to halftime. The Panthers would start with the ball in the second half and they would go on a eight play drive that would result in a 28 yard touchdown pass from Cam Newton to Devin Funchess to make it 24-7. On the first Dolphins possession in the second half, Cutler would go to Kenny Stills for 17 and they would face a fourth and 1 but the Panthers defense would get the stop and the Dolphins would take over. The Panthers would capitalize and would result in a Cameron Artis-Payne touchdown from 12 yards out to make it 31-7. The Dolphins would cut the lead on the next drive on a 66 yard touchdown run by Kenyan Drake to make it 31-14. The Panthers would be too good on the next drive as Cam Newton went to Christian McCaffrey for a two yard touchdown to make it 38-14. The Panthers defense would force a Dolphins punt then go on an eleven play drive that would end on a 32 yard touchdown pass from Newton to Funchess and it would be 45-14. The Dolphins would get one more score as Cutler would go to Jarvis Landry for a nine yard touchdown. The Panthers would run out the clock as they took down the Dolphins.
