The Detroit Lions came into Green Bay looking to snap their three game losing streak as they take on the Packers on Monday night. The Packers would have Brett Huntley at QB in replacement of Aaron Rodgers who is out with a broken collarbone. Both teams are looking to stay in the division race with a win. Who would come out on top in this NFC North matchup? Let's get into it! The Packers would start with the ball and on second and 9, Brett Hundley would go to Davante Adams for nine and a first down. Hundley would get eight yards on second and 6 and they would face a third and 1 and Hundley would go for a yard for another first down. Hundley would go to Jordy Nelson for eight for another first. Aaron Jones would go for three yards on a second and 1. The Packers would go for a 38 yard field goal attempt by Mason Crosby and A'Shawn Robinson would get the tip and block the field goal. It looked like the Packers would get a three and out but an unsportsmanlike conduct on the Packers would give the Lions a first down. Matthew Stafford would go to Golden Tate for a 15 yard gain for a first down. Ameer Abdullah would go for 11 yards on second and 6 and then on second and 5, Stafford would find Marvin Jones for a 25 yard touchdown and the PAT would make it 7-0 late in the first quarter. The Packers would go three and out on their next possession. The Lions would face a third and 10 and Stafford would find Marvin Jones for 16 and then Stafford would find Eric Ebron for 19. On second and 8 of the Lions drive, Stafford would find Abdullah for nine. The Lions would face a third and 3 and Stafford would find Tate for 17 then find Darren Fells for 10. On another third and 3, Stafford would find Tate again for 15. On second and 1, Abdullah would get three yards and then on a second and 2, Abdullah would go in from four yards out for the touchdown. The Packers would have a chance to score before halftime and the drive would end on a 35 yard field goal by Mason Crosby as we head to halftime with the Lions leading 14-3. The Lions would start with the ball in the second half and would drive down the field and would result in a Matt Prater 44 yard field goal to make it 17-3. On the first play of the Packers drive, Hundley would find Jordy Nelson for 12 but the Packers would face a fourth and 2 and the Lions defense would get the stop to get the ball back. The Lions would face a third and 7 and Stafford would find TJ Jones for 17 but on the next play, Abdullah would fumble and the Packers would recover. The Packers would be unable to capitalize as they would go three and out. On the first play, Stafford would go to Marvin Jones for 12 yards and then second and 11, Stafford would find Ebron for 15. The Lions would face a third and 10 and Stafford would find Marvin Jones for 23 and then went to TJ Jones for 12 as the third quarter came to a close. The Lions would have a first and goal at the one. The Lions were unable to punch it in and Prater would make the 19 yard field goal to make it 20-3. Next Packers possession, on second and 4, Ty Montgomery would go for five yards. On the next play, Hundley would go to Randall Cobb for 46 yards to the Lions 21 yard line. On second and 2, Hundley would go to Adams for nine yards to the Lions 4 yard line. On second and goal at the one, Hundley would sneak in for a one yard score. The PAT would cut the lead to 20-10. On the second play of the Lions drive, Stafford would go to Riddick for 63 yards to the Packers 12 yard line. On second and 9, Stafford would find Marvin Jones who make a great catch for the touchdown. The PAT would make the lead 27-10 Lions. On the Packers, on second and 1, Hundley would go to Cobb for 10. They would face a fourth and 13 and the pass would fall incomplete and the Lions would get the ball back. The Lions would face a third and 5, Stafford would go to Marvin Jones for 13. They would face a third and 8 and Stafford would find Tate for 23 to the Packers 2 yard line. The Lions would be unable to punch it into the end zone and after the two minute warning Matt Prater would make a 31 yard field goal to make it 30-10. The Packers drive would result in a touchdown thanks to a pass interference in the end zone with no time left and Jamaal Williams would go in from one yard out but the Lions would take the victory in Green Bay for the second time in three seasons.
Thoughts on the game: The Lions were dominating throughout the game. Only giving up one touchdown, the other one was with no time left and when the game was in hand. Matthew Stafford had a really great game and threw for 361 yards and two touchdowns to Marvin Jones, who made some great catches for his score. The Packers' Brett Hundley had a good game, where he threw for 245 yards and a rushing touchdown. I believe the Lions could go on a run with the schedule they have and could compete for the division if they finish the sweep of Minnesota.
