The Buffalo Bills traveled to the Meadowlands to take on the New York Jets in a surpringly good Thursday night football matchup. The Bills at 5-2 are hoping to get the victory and continue on towards the playoffs. The Jets are looking to get back on track after a three game losing streak. Who would come out on the first football game in November? Let's go into the game! The Jets would start with the ball and would go three and out to start the game. The Bills would go backwards on their opening drive and would punt the football. The Jets would face a third and 3 and Josh McCown would go for six yards. McCown would go to Robby Anderson for 13 then Matt Forte would go for 13. They would face a third and 5 and McCown would scramble for a ten yard touchdown. The PAT would make it a Jets 7-0 lead. Tyrod Taylor would start the next Buffalo drive with a completion to Jordan Matthews for 11 them LeSean McCoy would go for 13 but that was all the Bills could get as they would punt once again. The Bills defense would get a three and out on the next drive. The Bills would face a third and 1 and Taylor would go for 18 yards and then an illegal contact penalty on the next play would give the Bills another first down. Taylor would go to Zay Jones for 12 as the first quarter came to an end. Second play of the second quarter would result in a Taylor to Jones for a 10 yard score. The PAT would tie the game at 7. The next Jets possession would result in a 45 yard field goal by Chandler Catanzaro to give the Jets a 10-7 lead. The Jets and Bills would end their drive in punt. The Bills looked like they would drive for a score but a fumble would be recovered by the Jets would kill the drive. The Jets would go to halftime with the 10-7 lead. The Bills would start with the ball in the second half and would go three and out. The Jets would get the ball and on second and 11, McCown would go to Jermaine Kearse for 20 and then on a second and 9, Matt Forte would go 20 yards. The Bills looked like they had a sack on second and 11 and Buffalo would get called for a facemask. On second and 15, McCown would go to Robby Anderson for a 25 yard touchdown. The PAT would make it 17-7 midway through the third. The Jets defense would get another Bills three and out. The Jets would punt on their next possession and as would the Bills. On the next Jets possession, Bilal Powell would go for 51 to the Buffalo 10 yard line and then Forte would go in from 10 yards out for the touchdown. The PAT would make it 24-7. The Bills possession would end on a fumble recovered by the Jets. The Jets would have the ball as the third quarter came to an end. The Jets would be forced to punt on the possession. The Bills would fumble once again and recovered by the Jets at the Buffalo 9 yard line and return it to the five yard line. Matt Forte would go for five yards for the score to make it 31-7. The Bills would turn it over on downs on the next play and would result in a Catanzaro field goal to make it 34-7. The Bills would score on their next possession and then recover an onside kick and score another touchdown to make it 34-21 but the Jets would get the ball back and they would run out the clock to take the home victory to snap a three game losing streak.
Thoughts on the game: The Jets defense was phenominal tonight against Buffalo. The Jets defense forced three turnovers. Matt Forte had an impressive game with two touchdowns and QB Josh McCown threw for 140 yards and a touchdown. For Buffalo, Tyrod Taylor had a great game, throwing for 285 yards and two touchdowns. This was a must-win for the Jets so they can stay in the playoff hunt as we head to November.
