The Minnesota Vikings come into Chicago 2-2 and are looking to get back on track as they took on the Bears on Monday Night Football. Bears QB Mitch Trubisky is making his debut at Soldier Field replacing Mike Glennon. Vikings QB Sam Bradford returns to the lineup after missing the last few games with an injury. Who would come out on top in this Monday Night Football matchup? We'll find out soon enough. The Bears would start with the ball. The Bears would face a third and 6 and Mitch Trubisky would find Kendall Wright for 12 yards then find Wright again for 13 on the next play. Jordan Howard would run for 11 yards on the next play. The Bears would fail to move the chains again and would be forced to punt. The Vikings would get the ball and would go three and out. The Vikings defense would force a three and out of their own. The Vikings offense couldn't move the ball on their second drive and would punt once again. Trubisky would find McBride for 18 on second and 5. They would fail to move the chains again and would punt the ball. The Bears Leonard Floyd would sack Bradford in the end zone for a safety and a 2-0 Bears lead. The Bears would face a third and 3 as the first quarter came to an end. Trubisky would find Wright for 8. A costly Bears penalty would kill the drive and would cause another punt. The Vikings would face a third and 6 and Sam Bradford would find Andre Thielen for 11. They wouldn't be able to move it anymore and another punt would be upcoming. They would face a third and 13 and Trubisky would run for 6 but an illegal contact penalty on Chicago would give Minnesota a first down. They wouldn't get another first down so another punt would come once again for the Bears. The Vikings would face a third and 6 and Bradford would find Jarick McKinnon for six yards. Bradford would find Thielen for 14 on second and 9. Floyd would get to Bradford to force another Vikings punt. The Bears would fumble on the first play and the Vikings would recover with good field position. The Vikings would get a Kai Forbath field goal to make it 3-2 Vikings. The Bears would go three and out for another punt. The Vikings wouldn't score on their next drive as we went to halftime with the Vikings leading 3-2 but the most interesting thing was that Case Keenum would take over at QB for Sam Bradford. The Vikings would end their opening drive of the second half with a touchdown pass from Case Keenum to Kyle Rudolph from 13 yards out. The PAT would make it 10-2 with 8:16 remaining in the third quarter. The Bears would answer back with a touchdown of their own when they attempted to punt and Pat O'Donnell threw a pass to Benny Cunningham and would go 38 yards for a touchdown. The PAT would make it 10-9 in favor of the Vikings. The Vikings would get a big play for a touchdown as Jarick McKinnon went 58 yards for the score to make it 17-9. The Bears would drive the ball down the field as the third quarter would come to a close. The drive would end as Trubisky went to Zach Miller who would catch a deflected pass for the touchdown from 20 yards out. The two-point conversion would be good as the game was tied at 17 at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The next Vikings drive would end in a punt. Each team's drive would end in punts until Trubisky would get picked off by Harrison Smith and the Vikings would have good field position. The Vikings would be short on third down but a holding penalty on the Bears would keep the drive alive. The Vikings would line up for a 26 yard field goal attempt by Kai Forbath and would make it to give the Vikings a 20-17 lead with seven seconds left. The Bears last chance would fail as the Vikings took down the Bears in Chicago 20-17.
Thoughts on the game: The first half was a defensive struggle and looked like it would be a low scoring game. The second half felt really different and got exciting around the end of the game. I was impressed by Mitch Trubisky for the Bears. He threw for 128 yards and a touchdown. Case Keenum came in relief of Sam Bradford late in the first half and played well. He threw for 140 yards and a touchdown.
