Patriots shutout Falcons in Foggy Rematch

It was a rematch of last year's Super Bowl as the Atlanta Falcons traveled to Foxboro to take on the New England Patriots. The Patriots could stay in first place all alone if they get the home win and the Falcons can stay tied for first place with a win. Who would come out on top in the premier matchup on Sunday night football? We'll find out soon enough. The Patriots would start with the ball and they would get a first down after an Atlanta holding penalty. The drive would stall and result in a Patriots punt. The Falcons would start out on offense with a three and out. The Patriots would punt again on their next possession as they went three and out. The Falcons would drive down and go for a 37 yard field goal and the kick would be blocked. The quarter would come to an end with a scoreless tie. The Patriots drive would end in a Tom Brady to Brandin Cooks 11 yard touchdown pass. The PAT would make it 7-0 Patriots. The Patriots would stay strong and get another three and out. The Patriots would face a third and 8 and Brady would go to Rob Gronkowski for 27 yards. The Patriots would go for a Stephen Gostkowski 29 yard field goal and make it for a 10-0 Patriots lead. The Falcons would go for for it on fourth and 6 around midfield and the pass would fall incomplete and the Patriots would take over and the next Patriots drive would end in a Tom Brady going to James White for a two yard score. The PAT would make it 17-0 and would lead by that score as we go to halftime. The Falcons would get the ball to start the second half and looked like the Falcons were going to score but had to settle with a 36 yard field goal attempt but it was missed. The Patriots would drive down the field to get a 21 yard field goal by Gostkowski to make it 20-0. Devonta Freeman and Julio Jones would help the Falcons drive down the field as the third quarter came to an end. They would face a fourth and 1 and the Patriots would deny them the end zone. The Patriots would drive once again and settle for a 38 yarder from Gostkowski to make it 23-0. The Falcons would break the shutout with a touchdown pass from Matt Ryan to Julio Jones. The Patriots would be able to run out the clock thanks to a 13 yard run by Dion Lewis as they headed to the two-minute warning. The Patriots would end up taking the rematch by beating the Falcons 23-7.

Thoughts on the game: The Patriots played one of their best games on defense of the season. They stopped the Falcons on fourth down twice and look like they're turning the corner and look like they could take the AFC East.
