Well, it's been a while I've done one of these. With the District Playoffs done, I will be doing more Railriders coverage. There were some interesting things that happened this week when I came back. Jason Gurka was released, Ernesto Frieri was released, then stayed Friday and Saturday and released on Sunday. Ruben Tejada was traded on Sunday to the Orioles. Two of the three made sense. I was honestly surprised by Jason Gurka being released but with how most of the bullpen performing as well as Trenton's, I shouldn't be too surprised. Ernesto Frieri made sense in terms of he wanted a shot at the big leagues and the Yankees weren't going to give him a spot. Tejada getting traded made sense in terms of their young prospects. The infield was getting cramped especially when Gleyber Torres got called up. With basically, Tyler Wade, Torres, Solano, Culver along with several prospects in Trenton, it shouldn't have come as a surprise. Tejada did have a hot start but did cool down lately. With that, here are the three stars of the week and we'll look at several of the local professional players and see what they are doing.
Three Stars (Please note this comes from May 30th to June 3rd)
3) Cito Culver: He was the tied with the team lead in RBIs this week with three.
2) Tyler Wade: He lead the team in home runs with two, tied the team lead in RBIs this week with three and tied the team lead in hits with six.
1) Chance Adams: He had the most dominant performance this season for the Railriders. He gave up one hit, striking out 12 and only walking two. Not sure if he's definitely ready for the MLB stage just yet but he'll definitely be up there sooner than later.
