Six teams attempted to get to Penn State for the State Finals on Thursday and Friday. In this post, the scores of all six teams from District 2 will be in here, along with some highlights.
6A Softball
Hazleton Area 8 Springford 5
The Lady Cougars came back from an early 4-0 deficit and took a 5-4 in the second inning and never gave up the lead. The Cougars will take on Chambersburg or Hempfield Area on Thursday at Nittany Lion Softball Park at 4 PM.
5A Baseball
Whitehall 6 Wallenpaupack 2
The Zephyrs had a big fourth inning by scoring five, overcoming a 1-0 deficit to advance to the State Championship game at Penn State on Thursday at 5:30 PM.
4A Baseball
Dallas 7 East Pennsboro 5
JD Barrett scored three on a bases loaded single in the sixth to give the Mountaineeers the lead for good as the Mountaineers will be headed to Penn State and play at 1 PM on Friday.
4A Softball
Tunkhannock 9 Bangor 4
Tunkhannock broke it open with six runs in the fourth inning as the Tigers advance to the State Finals. They will play at 1:30 PM on Thursday
3A Baseball
Holy Redeemer 4 Loyalsock 0
Tucker Ell broke a scoreless tie in the seventh with a single and the Royals would score 3 more in the inning and Tony Molitoris would pitch another shutout to give the Royals a spot in the State Championship Game. They will take on Huntingdon or Central at 3 PM at Lubrano Park at Penn State.
3A Softball
Pine Grove 10 Mid Valley 6
Pine Grove knocked off Mid Valley in a high scoring game to advance to the State Title game.
District 2 will have four teams vying for State Titles in Baseball and Softball.
