Railriders blitz IronPigs

The Railriders and the IronPigs continued their four game series at Coca-Cola Park on Friday night. Jake Thompson got the start for the IronPigs. The Railriders started Luis Cessa. Tyler Wade started off the game with a single to center. Gleyber Torres then followed with a single to right. Torres would get forced out at second on a Greg Bird grounder. Tyler Austin would bring home Wade on a double to right for a 1-0 Railriders lead. Clint Frazier then followed with a home run to left to make 4-0 Railriders. Kyle Higashioka then drew a walk. Higashioka would reach second on a passed ball. After a flyout, Donovan Solano would bring home Higashioka on a single to left to make it 5-0. Ji-Man Choi then doubled to center to score Solano for a 6-0 Railriders lead. Tyler Wade hit a single to left to score Choi and a 7-0 lead. Ricardo Pinto came in to pitch for the IronPigs and would get a flyout to end the top of the first. Cameron Perkins led off with a single to left to start it off for the IronPigs. After a strikeout and a flyout, Dylan Cozens hit a single to right but a flyout would end the inning. Pinto would throw a 1-2-3 second inning for the IronPigs. Cessa answered with a 1-2-3 inning of his own. Mason Williams would hit a one out single to center. Solano would hit a single to center but they would get Williams trying to get to third for the second out. A strikeout would end the top of the third. Logan Moore drew a walk, then Perkins hit a double moving Moore to third. Cessa would retire the next three batters to keep the IronPigs off the board. Pinto would throw a 1-2-3 inning for the IronPigs in the fourth. Cessa threw another 1-2-3 fourth for the Railriders. Pinto threw another 1-2-3 inning for the IronPigs in the fifth. Cameron Perkins hit a two out single to left but a flyout would end the inning. Jesen Therrien came in to pitch for the IronPigs in the sixth and would throw a 1-2-3 inning. Rhys Hoskins would draw a leadoff walk. After a groundout, the IronPigs would get on the board as Hector Gomez would hit a double to center to score Hoskins and a 7-1 deficit. Back-to-back groundouts would end the inning. Therrien would throw another 1-2-3 inning for the IronPigs. Tyler Webb came in to pitch for the Railriders and would get a strikeout for the first out. The Railriders went to Crestwood grad Matt Wotherspoon out of the bullpen. Wotherspoon would get the next two outs on a strikeout and a groundout to keep the six run lead. Clint Frazier would hit a home run to left center with one out for an 8-1 lead. Higashioka would hit a single to left but a lineout and a groundout would end the top of the eighth. Rhys Hoskins would hit a one out infield single but Wotherspoon would get a strikeout and a lineout to end the eighth. Jorge Flores came in to pitch the ninth for the IronPigs. Tyler Wade would hit a one out infield single then Gleyber Torres would hit a home run to center for a 10-1 lead. After a groundout, Austin would hit an infield single but a lineout would end the ninth. Brock Stassi would hit a one out single to right. After a strikeout, the Railriders brought in JR Graham in relief and would get the strikeout to end the game as the Railriders took the 10-1 victory over the IronPigs.

Thoughts on the game: The Railriders started the game off quickly, scoring seven runs. Clint Frazier had a great game at the plate, belting two home runs. Matt Wotherspoon made his Railriders debut on the mound, going 2 and 1/3 innings, getting three strikeouts and gave up two hits. Gleyber Torres had a great game, hitting a home run.
