Scranton Prep Lady Classics win 2023 District 2 4A Chmpionship
Scranton Prep came in wanting to apply pressure on the defensive side. The Lady Classics forced 20 turnovers on defense and Maya Jenkins had a team-high 12 points as Scranton Prep had 4 players reach double digits in points as Rita Collins scored 11 and Bella Dennebaum and Claire McGrath each added 10 points. "We have really talented kids but their effort in the gym day in and day out results in what you see tonight." Said Scranton Prep head coach Bob Beviglia who won his fifth District title since joining the program.
Scranton Prep scored their first basket of the first quarter and led 9-0 with two minutes to go in the first quarter. Wyoming Area scored their first basket with less than two minutes to go in the quarter on a basket by Morgan Janeski. The Lady Classics led 14-2 after the end of the first quarter.
Scranton Prep went on a 5-0 run to lead 19-2 and led 21-5. The Lady Warriors went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead down to ten but the Lady Classics had a 5-0 run on a three pointer by Maya Jenkins and a basket by Claire McGrath to make 26-11 at halftime. Scranton Prep cruised through the second half and took the District 2 4A Championship by defeating Wyoming Area 58-31. Morgan Janeski and Abby Wisnewski each added six points for Wyoming Area
