Abington Heights made the first basket of the game on a three pointer by Madison Zalewski. It stayed that way for a while until Maddie Karp made a free throw and Kallie Booth hit a three pointer and Taylor Baiera made a free throw to make 5-3. Lauryn Notari made a basket to tie the game at 5. After both teams traded scores, Maggie Coleman hit a three pointer to make it 10-7 Comets and Maddie Karp hit a bucket at the buzzer for the Lady Patriots to make it 10-9 Abington Heights at the end of the first quarter.
Zalewski scored five straight points to make it 15-9 Comets. Pittston Area tied the game up with a basket by Baiera, a three pointer by Booth then made a free throw after the three was made. After that, Abington Heights went on an 8-0 run and led 23-17 at halftime.
It was a back and forth third quarter with the Comets leading 27-24 at the end of the third quarter. Kate Scoblick hit a basket to start the fourth quarter to built Abington Heights lead to five. Booth then hit back to back three pointers to make it 30-29 Lady Patriots. With 2:29 left, Booth got a basket to make it 32-29. After a defensive stop, Booth then hit a free throw to make it 33-29 with 1:53 left. Maggie Coleman hit a three pointer to cut the lead to down to one. Booth hit one of two free throws to make it a two point game. Abington Heights got the ball back with 37 seconds left and Pittston Area got the stop and Booth sealed the game with a pair of free throws for a 36-32 victory over Abington Heights to win the District 2 5A District Championship.
