Milestones were met in tonight's game, Mia Snyder hit 1,000 points in her career in the first quarter. She finished with a game high 21 points as Montrose reached the state semifinals with a 45-29 victory over the Lions of Faith Christian Academy. Montrose head coach Todd Smith talked about advancing to the State semifinals. "Since we lost to Elk Lake, we just grew together as a team from that moment. We've been tough to beat ever since."
Montrose started off the game on a 7-2 run. After a FCA basket, Mia Snyder made her 1,000th of her career with a free throw then got point 1,001 on her second free throw. Mya Snyder then got a steal and layup to make it 11-5 and the Lady Meteors led 18-7 at the end of the first quarter. Defense prevailed in the second quarter as Montrose outscored the Lady Lions 4-3 and led 22-10 at halftime.
Montrose made it a 13 point game with a free throw by Mia Snyder. However, Faith Christian Academy went on a 5-0 run with a three pointer by Maddee Huber and a basket by Bella Forker. However, Mia Snyder scored five straight points to get the lead back to 13. The Lions got a pair of three pointers by Autumn Landis and Forker then got a free throw by Ava Lopez and a basket by Huber to make it 28-24 at the end of the fourth quarter.
Aubrey Sauers cut the Lady Meteors lead down to two with a basket for FCA. Gracie Dalton scored four straight points, a basket and a pair of free throws to increase the lead to nine. Montrose then cruised from there to take a 45-29 victory over Faith Christian Academy to advance to the PIAA 2A Girls State Championship Semifinal.
