Montrose wins 2A Girls District 2 Championship



 Montrose’s defense never let up in the second half. They applied pressure on the defensive side used their height to their advantage and kept Old Forge off the scoreboard in the third quarter and cruised to a 42-15 victory over Old Forge to win the District 2 2A Title. “We just adjusted at halftime and we forced them to take some tough shots. We’re long and we got the ball inside and got a great game from Paley.” Montrose head coach Todd Smith said. “It’s just alot about talking and staying on your girl and communicating.” Said Lady Meteors junior center Paley Adams who had a game high 13 points and recorded six rebounds. 

Montrose started off the game with a basket by Hayley Pompey and a free throw by Riley Keihl to make it 3-0. Old Forge tied the game up with a three pointer by Jewlya McCullon. However, that was all the Lady Devils could muster as the Lady Meteors went on a 5-0 run as they led 10-3 at the end of the first quarter.



Lauren Olivieri cut the lead to five with a basket to start the second quarter. Pompey hit three of four free throws to make it 13-5. Old Forge went on a 5-0 run to cut their deficit to four at 13-9. However, Montrose got baskets by Mia Snyder and then a bucket by Gracie Dalton just before the buzzer to give the Lady Meteors a 17-9 at halftime.



The Meteors held Old Forge scoreless in the third quarter and held them to six points in the fourth quarter to win the District 2 2A Title with a 42-15 victory over Old Forge. Jewlya McCullon had seven points for the Lady Devils and Isabella Nee added three points.
