Saints take sixth straight game, beat Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings hosted the New Orleans Saints on Sunday Night. It is a rematch of the NFC Divisional Playoff where the Vikings won on a walkoff touchdown by Stefon Diggs. The Saints are looking for revenge from last year's loss. New Orleans is currently in first place of the NFC South. The Vikings are currently in first place of the NFC North. Who would come out on top in this matchup of first place NFC teams? Let's get to the game!
New Orleans would start with the ball and would go eight plays and end with Drew Brees going to Alvin Kamara for a three yard touchdown for a 7-0 lead. The Vikings first possession of the game would go 13 plays and end with Kirk Cousins finding Stefon Diggs for a one yard score on fourth and goal. The Saints would go three and out on their next possession. The Vikings would go on a seven play drive that would go into the second quarter and would end with Latavius Murray jumping into the endzone for a one yard touchdown. Minnesota would miss the extra point and it would be 13-7. The Saints would answer with a 52 yard field goal by Wil Lutz to cut the lead to 13-10. The Vikings would punt on their next possession. The Saints' next drive would end with Drew Brees' first interception of the season. The interception was made by pressure by the defensive line and grabbed by Harrison Smith. The Vikings would have a turnover as well as the ball was fumbled that was forced by Alex Anzalone and recovered by the Saints' Marshon Lattimore. The Saints would respond as Alvin Kamara would go in for a one yard touchdown for his second touchdown of the night for a 17-13 Saints lead as we go into halftime.
The Vikings would start with the ball and would turn the ball over on downs. The Saints would go nine plays and end with a 42 yard field goal by Lutz to make it 20-13. The Vikings' next possession would end with an interception by PJ Williams and returned 45 yards for a touchdown and a 27-13 Saints lead. The Vikings would punt on their next drive. The Saints would start the fourth quarter scoring with another 42 yard field goal by Lutz for a 30-13 lead. The Vikings would go on a long 13 play drive that would end with Cousins going to Adam Thielen for the one yard touchdown to cut the lead to 30-20. However, the Saints would hold the Vikings off the scoreboard the rest of the way as New Orleans would take the rematch of the NFC Divisional Playoff by beating the Vikings 30-20
