The Kansas City Chiefs traveled to Denver on Monday night to take on the Broncos. The Chiefs come in undefeated on the season. Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes comes in with 13 touchdown passes through three games this season. The Broncos have struggled early on the season but are looking for a big win over their AFC West rival. Denver would start with the ball and would go seven plays and would get a 42 yard field goal by Brandon McManus for a 3-0 lead. The Chiefs would answer with a 10 play drive that would end with a 33 yard field goal by Harrison Butker to tie the game at 3. The first quarter would end with three punts. The Chiefs would go on a 12 play drive that would end with Patrick Mahomes going in for an eight yard touchdown run. The drive was highlighted by a 45 yard run by Kareem Hunt that would get Kansas City in Denver territory. The Broncos would answer with a five play drive where Royce Freeman would score from 14 yards out and was highlighted by Case Keenum going to Sutton for a 42 yard catch to the Chiefs 23 yard line. The game would be tied at 10 with 6:37 to go in the second quarter. The Chiefs' next drive would end with a punt. The Broncos would drive down the field just before halftime and would get a 34 yard field goal by McManus for a 13-10 Broncos lead as we headed to halftime.
The Chiefs would tie the game on their first drive of the second half with a 12 play drive ending with a 21 yard field goal by Butker. The Broncos' first possession of the second half would end quickly as Eric Murray would make a no-look first handed interception and the Chiefs would take over. The drive would end in a punt however. The Broncos would take the lead with nine play drive as Lindsay would go for a one yard touchdown and a 20-13 Denver lead. The Chiefs would go three and out. The Broncos would increase their lead on the next possession as McManus would hit a 46 yard field goal as we hit the fourth quarter. The Chiefs would try to get back into the game as they would go on a 12 play drive as it would finish with Patrick Mahomes going to Travis Kelce for a two yard touchdown reception. The Broncos would go three and out and the Chiefs would get the ball back with the chance for the lead. They would face a third and 5 and Mahomes would find Tyreek Hill for six. They would face another third down from seven yards out and Mahomes would find Harris for 35 yards to the Denver 11 yard line as we headed to the two-minute warning. On a second and 3, Kareem Hunt would score from four yards out to give the Chiefs a 27-23 lead. The Broncos needed to keep the game alive and faced a fourth and 11 and Keenum would find Emmanuel Sanders for 12 yards. On the next play, Keenum would find Heuerman for 35 yards to the Chiefs 28 yard line. They would face a third and 10 and Keenum would miss an open Demaryius Thomas and it would fall incomplete. They would face a fourth and 10 and Keenum's pass would fall incomplete as the Chiefs would survive on the road to take down the Denver Broncos 27-23.
