The New Orleans Saints hosted the Washington Redskins on Monday at the Superdome. Saints QB Drew Brees needs 201 passing yards to become the NFL's all-time leader. The Saints would go on a six play drive that would result with a two yard touchdown run by Mark Ingram, who returned from suspension. The extra point would be missed for a 6-0 New Orleans lead. The Redskins would go on a 15 play drive that would end with a Hopkins field goal to cut the Saints lead to 6-3. The Saints would go on a 13 play drive that would go through the end of the first quarter and would end with Drew Brees going to Josh Hill for a one yard score for a 13-3 lead. Washington went six plays and Hopkins would hit a 53 yard field goal for a 13-6 Saints lead. The Saints would answer as they would go on a 10 play drive that would end with Ingram's second touchdown of the game from a yard out. The Redskins would have another three and out. First play of the Saints drive and Drew Brees would break the NFL record for career passing yards as Brees would go to Smith for a 62 yard score and a 26-6 Saints lead. The Redskins would go three and out once again. The Saints next drive would end in a fumble and Washington would recover and would capitalize as it would take them three plays as Alex Smith would run in from four yards out to make it 26-13 at halftime.
The Saints would score on the opening drive as Brees would find Smith for a 35 yard touchdown and a 33-13 lead. The next Redskins drive would end with an interception by Hardee and returned to the Redskins four yard line. The Saints would get a one yard touchdown run by T Hill for a 40-13 lead. The Saints would get a field goal and the Redskins would get a touchdown by Bibbs from one yard out as New Orleans would take this eventful night as the Saints would take down Washington 43-19. Drew Brees needs one touchdown pass to break 500 career touchdown passes.
