Expect the Unexpected

Week one is in the books and some teams looked better than others. Some of them were expected and others were really surprising and unexpected and we'll be talking about that in this article. With that being said, we'll be talking about the unexpected results last week in the NFL this past week.

First surprise of the week was definitely the Jaguars knocking off the Texans. Leonard Fournette rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown in his debut. Blake Bortles threw for 125 yards and a touchdown. Leonard Fournette was not the most impressive debut this week though.

Could Kareem Hunt have a better debut? After fumbling on his first carry, he went for 148 yards and a touchdown. He also caught five passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns in the Chiefs victory over the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots.

The Detroit Lions knocked off the Arizona Cardinals and they were impressive for three quarters. Rookie wideout Kenny Golladay had two touchdown catches and Quarterback Matthew Stafford threw four touchdowns. The defense picked off Cardinals QB Carson Palmer three times.

The Eagles looked very good in their opener on the road in Washington. Eagles QB Carson Wentz threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns. The defense forced four turnovers and returned a fumble for a touchdown.

Another rookie had another great debut in Week 1. Minnesota rookie running back Dalvin Cook ran for 127 yards. He also caught three passes for 10 yards. QB Sam Bradford threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns. Stefon Diggs caught seven passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns.

Injury report for Week 1 is that Chiefs safety Eric Berry is out for the season with a ruptured Achilles. Cardinals RB David Johnson will miss 2 to 3 months with a Wrist injury. Jaguars wideout Allen Robinson is out for the year with a torn ACL. Eagles cornerback Ronald Darby is out indefinitely with a dislocated ankle. Steelers defensive end Stefan Tuitt is week-to-week with a biceps injury.

That will do for this week's NFL weekly article. Hope you enjoyed Week 1 and be glad that football has come back in full force.
