2020 District 2 Championships Day 1
Six teams traveled to the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre to vie for a District Championship. The first game on the day was the Single-A Girls featuring Susquehanna and MMI Prep. The Sabers would take the victory 49-28. The Sabers trailed early in the game but would come alive and not allow a single point in the second quarter. Taylor Hauck scored 18 points to become the Lady Sabers all-time leading scorer. The Lady Sabers will play tomorrow night at Martz Hall in the District 2/11 Subregional against Nativity BVM. The next game would be the 4A Girls. Scranton Prep would beat Dallas 52-35. Rachel Rose had a game high 21 points and Cecelia Collin added eight as the Classics would take another District Title. For Dallas, Claire Charlton had a team high 10 points and Deanna Wallace added eight. Both teams qualify for the 4A Girls State Playoffs alongside Berwick. The last game of the night was the 3A Boys between Riverside and Holy Redeemer. The Royals would take the victory by the score of 72-44. Justice Shoats had a game high 21 points and Mason Mendygral added 17 points. For Riverside, Brandon Reed had 13 points and Collin Kneiss and Michael Rickert had eight points. Both teams will qualify for States.
