The MMI Prep Preppers and Forest City Foresters came to PNC Field for the District 2 Single-A Championship game and the District 2/11 Subregional semifinal. The winner would advance to the Subregional Final and win the District Title. MMI would go to Marcus Danchision. Forest City would start Eric Paulin.
Danchision would draw a one out walk then Lance Book would follow with a walk but back-to-back strikeouts would end the threat for Forest City. Danchision would throw a 1-2-3 first for the Preppers. AJ Jordan would draw a lead off walk but his courtesy runner would be caught stealing for the first out. After a flyout, Marc Lobitz would single then Ethan Warner would draw a walk but a fielder's choice would keep the game scoreless. Cody Tomlinson would reach on an error with two outs but a strikeout would end the second. Kyle Shema would come in to pitch for the Foresters. Keefer Hoover would draw a two out walk but a popout would end the Top of the third. Lucas O'Neill would hit a single. After a strikeout, Corey Daniels would draw a walk but a strikeout and a fielder's choice would end the third. Shema would throw a 1-2-3 fourth for Forest City. Tyler Clift would hit a one out single but would get caught stealing for the second out. A flyout would end the inning. Mike Badamo would hit a single. After batter's interference and a strikeout, Badamo would steal second. Looked like there would a popout to end the inning but Forest City would lose track of it and Badamo would score for a 1-0 MMI lead. A strikeout would end the Top of the fifth. O'Neill would reach on an error with one out but a strikeout and a fielder's choice would end the fifth inning. Marcus Kassick would hit a leadoff single and would go to second on a sacrifice bunt. After a strikeout, Lobitz would hit a single to score Kassick for a 2-0 lead. Badamo would get hit by a pitch and George Palermo would hit a single to score Lobitz for a 3-0 lead. A strikeout would end the Top of the sixth. Rocco Sassani would reach on an error to lead off the sixth but Dachision would retire the next three batters. Dakota Knehr-Cook would come in to pitch the seventh for Forest City. Lance Book would draw a leadoff walk. After a fielder's choice for the first out. Kassick would single then Jordan would draw a walk to load the bases but an infield fly and a flyout would end the Top of the seventh inning. Danchision would throw a 1-2-3 seventh inning as MMI would win the District 2 Single-A Championship with a 3-0 victory over Forest City.
Thoughts on the game: Marcus Danchision pitched a fantastic game for MMI. He struck out eight and walked one batter, giving up two hits. For Forest City, Kyle Shema had a good game in relief, striking out six in four innings while walking one.
