The Crestwood Comets and Nanticoke Trojans played at the University of Scranton for their final regular season title. With a victory, Crestwood will clinch the WVC Division 1 Championship for the second straight season. A victory by Nanticoke would cause Division 1 to be a three way tie. The Trojans sent Jadyn Heald to the mound. The Comets sent Corey Chalk to the mound.
Chalk would start the game with a 1-2-3 top of the first. Brett Caladie would lead off by reaching on an error. After a strikeout, Justin Darden would hit a triple to score Caladie for a 1-0 Comets lead. Brandon Brozena would follow with a single to score Darden's courtesy runner Mick Bafunno for a 2-0 lead. Mike Palmiero would hit a double to score Brozena to make it 3-0. Chalk would bring home Palmiero then Wyatt Kindler singled. Evan Knapp would hit a single to score Chalk's courtesy runner Zack Andrews and Kindler. Devland Heffron would come in to pitch for the Trojans. Matt Taleroski would reach on a fielder's choice and would steal second and Brett Caladie would single home Taleroski for a 7-0 lead and would lead by that after one inning. Jake Krupinski would reach on an error with two outs but a groundout would end the Top of the second. Palmiero would hit a two out single but a strikeout would end the inning. Chalk would throw another 1-2-3 inning in the third. Taleroski would draw a two out walk but a strikeout would end the third. Kris Rynkiewicz would hit an infield single with one out but a strikeout and a groundout would end the Top of the fourth. Colin Macko would hit a double to right then went to third on a flyout. Brozena would bring home Macko on a single for an 8-0 lead. After a fielder's choice, Chalk would draw a walk but a popout would end the inning. Chalk would throw his third 1-2-3 inning of the game in the fifth. Pinch hitter Mick Bafunno would hit a single then Matt Taleroski would hit a single then Bafunno would advance to third on an error. After a double play, Stew Caladie would hit a single to score Bafunno for a 9-0 lead then Darden would end it with a double to score Caladie as the Comets would take the victory 10-0 and the WVC Division 1 title for the second straight year.
Thoughts on the game: Crestwood started off hot and cruised from there. Corey Chalk had another great performance on the mound. For Nanticoke, Kris Rynkiewicz had the lone hit for the Trojans.
