The New England Patriots traveled to Miami on Monday night to take on the Dolphins. The Patriots can take the AFC East with a win. The Dolphins hope to delay their celebration of the division title and also keep their dim playoff hopes alive. Who would come out on top in this AFC East Matchup? Let's get into it! The Dolphins would start with the ball and go on a long 13 play drive that would result in a 30 yard field goal by Cody Parkey for a 3-0 Dolphins lead. On the Patriots first drive of the night, on third and 10, Tom Brady's pass would be intercepted by Xavien Howard. The Dolphins would go on an eight play drive that would result in another field goal, this time from 44 yards out for a 6-0 Dolphins lead. The Patriots would go three and out on their next drive. The Dolphins wouldn't be able to score on their next drive and would punt at the beginning of the second quarter. The Patriots would get two first downs on their next drive but the drive would result in another punt. The Dolphins would go three and out on the next drive. The Patriots would go on a five play drive that ended with a three yard touchdown pass from Brady to Rex Burkhead to give the Patriots a 7-6 lead. The Dolphins would answer on their next drive as they went on a seven play drive that ended with Jay Cutler going to Jarvis Landry for a five yard touchdown throw. The Patriots would get the ball before half and would go on an eight play drive that would end in a 46 yard field goal by Stephen Gostkowski to make it 13-10 Dolphins as we head to halftime. The Patriots would get the ball to start the second half and Brady would be intercepted on third down by Xavien Howard once again. The Dolphins would capitalize with a five play drive that ended with Cutler going to Jakeem Grant for a 25 yard touchdown pass for a 20-10 lead. The Patriots would go three and out once again. The Dolphins would go on an eight play drive that ended with Cutler connecting with Landry for the second time tonight for a touchdown, this time from four yards out for a 27-10 lead. The Patriots and Dolphins would trade punts on their next possessions and the Patriots would go on a six play drive resulting in Tom Brady going to James White for a three yard score to cut the lead to 27-17 early in the fourth quarter. The Dolphins and Patriots would go three and out on their next possessions. The Dolphins would get a first down on a second and 1 as Kenyan Drake went for four yards but that was all they could get and would be forced to punt. After a couple three and outs, the Dolphins would get a first down on a second and 9 as Cutler went to Davante Parker for 10 yards. The drive would stop however and would be forced to punt. The Patriots would need some type of score to stay alive. A roughing the passer penalty on the Dolphins and Brady would go to Danny Amendola for 23 yards to the one yard line but failed to score and would settle for a 33 yard field goal by Gostkowski. The Patriots would try an onside kick and the Dolphins would recover and they would run the time down as the Dolphins took the home victory to prevent the Patriots from clinching the AFC East.
