Trojanettes get home victory over Wilkes-Barre Area

The Wilkes-Barre Area Wolfpack traveled to Nanticoke on Friday evening to take on the Nanticoke Trojanettes. The Wolfpack are coming off a victory against Valley West. The Trojanettes are coming off a loss to Hazleton Area.
The Trojanettes got to an 10-4 lead in the first quarter but a basket and a free throw by Gloria Adjayi would cut the lead to three. Riley Baird would hit a three to give Nanticoke a six point lead once again. After a three pointer by the Wolfpack's Bella Gray and a basket by Nanticoke's Lauren Casey. A basket by Reagen Holden with under a minute would make it a three point game but a layup by Baird just before the buzzer would make it 17-12 Nanticoke at the end of the first quarter. Allycia Harris would start the scoring for the Wolfpack with a 3 point play to cut the lead to 2. A basket by Vanessa Luna would tie the game at 17. A basket by Casey and a three pointer by Brooklyn Biehl would give the Trojanettes a five point lead. However, a basket by Harris and a three pointer by Gray would tie the game up again. A pair of free throws by Casey would make it 24-22 but Harris would tie the game up with a basket. Five straight points by Casey would end the scoring for the quarter as the Trojanettes would take a 29-24 lead into halftime.
The Trojanettes would start off with a pair of free throws by Casey. After a back and forth of trading baskets, the Wolfpack would go on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to one. A three pointer by Abigail Cullen would increase the lead to four. After a basket by the Wolfpack's Luna and a pair of free throws by the Trojanettes' Casey, Luna would score five straight points to give the Wolfpack their first lead of the game at 42-41. That would be shortlived however as Cullen would hit a three pointer to make it 44-42. Luna would tie the game before the quarter ended as we ended the third with a 44-44 tie. Nanticoke would take a five point lead after both teams traded points with a basket by Baird and a three by Biehl. A Harris basket would cut the lead to three. After a Casey free throw, baskets by Luna and Harris would tie the game at 52. Cullen would hit a pair of free throws to take a 54-52 lead. The Wolfpack would only be able to muster two points the rest of the way as the Trojans would take a 58-54 home victory over Wilkes-Barre Area.

Thoughts on the game: It was a great game by both teams. The Trojanettes' Abigail Cullen and Lauren Casey had great games tonight with 18. Riley Baird also played well with 13. The Wolfpack's Allycia Harris had a great game with 19 points. Vanessa Luna also did well, scoring 17.
