Wyoming Seminary at Nanticoke Boys

Wyoming Seminary came to Nanticoke to take on the Trojans. The 2003 Trojanette Softball team was recognized before the game started. The Trojans and Blue Knights played a tight first quarter but Nanticoke went on an 8-0 run after trailing 6-4 and would lead 12-8 after 1. Nanticoke would increase their lead to 11 with 5 points from Nate Kreitzer. However, 2 free throws from Nick Ganter and a 2 from Dimitri Gnall to cut the Blue Knights lead to 7 at halftime. The Blue Knights deficit was cut to 2 with 5 straights points from Gnall but a Nate Kreitzer 3 increased the lead to 5. After a Noah Munley field goal, Nate Kreitzer hit back-to-back 3s to end the quarter to give the Trojans a 37-28 lead after 3. Even after the Trojans increased the lead to 12, the Blue Knights kept fighting back. The Blue Knights went on an 8-2 to cut the lead to 6 but Nanticoke stopped them and sunk two free throws by Rich Wiaterowski and Luke Butczynski to seal the game by the score of 50-42. Nate Kreitzer scored 22 points and Justin Casey had 8 points for Nanticoke. Dimitri Gnall had 12 points and Tyler Maddock scored 11 for the Blue Knights.

Thoughts on the game: Great game by Nate Kreitzer, sunk a bunch of 3s off the bench and the Trojans as a team held off the Blue Knights. Dimitri Gnall had a good game for the Blue Knights as well as Tyler Maddock.

Abington Heights at Holy Redeemer Boys

Abington Heights came down to Wilkes-Barre to play the Holy Redeemer Royals. Abington Heights came off a victory over La Salle College on Saturday afternoon. Holy Redeemer came off a victory against Holy Cross. Abington Heights and Holy Redeemer were close at 4-3 but Abington Heights called timeout and they would go on a 15-3 run for the rest of quarter and would 19-3 after 1. Abington Heights continued their onslaught with 3 straight field goals, including back-to-back buckets from Jackson Danzig. Redeemer would attempt their hardest to get back into the game, with Colin Cook scoring 4 points to end the half but would trail by 20 at halftime. Trey Koehler would score the first 5 points of the third and would go on a 11-0 run, breaking the run by a 3 by Jason Stachokus but the Comets would lead 51-23 after three. Abington Heights would cruise in the fourth to take the victory 62-29. Trey Koehler would score 17 points and Seth Maxwell would have 11. For the Royals, James Kosik had 10 points and Colin Cook had 7.

Thoughts on the game: Seth Maxwell might be the main attraction of Abington Heights, but Trey Koehler had a great game tonight and he really stood out, scoring 17. Seth Maxwell had a pretty good game himself, scoring 11 and making the difference in the lane and on the boards. James Kosik had a pretty game for Holy Redeemer. He would score the first 6 points for Redeemer.
