Lake-Lehman advances to the WVC Championship Game with convincing victory over Hazleton Area

The Lady Knights over the last two games have started off with them building up a big lead. They took a ten point lead after one and had an eight point lead at halftime. They took over in the second half and defeated Hazleton Area 61-43 to advance to the WVC Championship game. "We were very focused on our practices this week. We're here to have fun and to win and winning is fun. Our goal is to win the Championship." Junior Breanna Hunt said. Hunt scored a game high 20 points and Ella Wilson added 15 for the Lady Knights.
Lake-Lehman started off with an 11-2 lead and didn't allow Hazleton Area to score until Alexis Reimold hit a pair of free throws. They didn't get a field goal until late in the first quarter with a basket by Sophia Shults to make it 11-4. The Lady Knights' Breanna Hunt, Molly Jenkins and Lia Keefe each hit baskets to make it 17-4 then Shults hit a three pointer to make 17-7 at the end of the first quarter.
THe Lady Cougars tried to get back into the game but Ella Wilson started the second half with a pair of free throws. After Shults hit a basket, Breanna Hunt hit a three pointer to make it a 13 point Lady Knights lead. Hazleton Area cut the lead down to 6 at 27-21 but Wilson hit free throws and Hunt hit a basket to make it 31-23 at halftime.
Lake-Lehman came out strong in the second half, scoring seven straight points to make it a 15 point game. The Black Knights cruised throughout the second half to advance to the WVC Championship Game 61-43. Lake-Lehman will play Holy Redeemer on Saturday at 6 PM at Dallas High School. Alexis Reimold led the team in scoring with 15 points and Sophia Shults added 13.
