Rain, Rain Go Away

Last week was not a great week for baseball. Some teams were lucky enough to get games in, but in most cases, teams weren't able to even games in at all. Hopefully, this week, the weather can be good enough in the final two weeks of the regular season for baseball and softball to be played. Baseball Playoffs for 2A and 3A start on May 20th. A and 4A Playoffs start on May 23rd. The District Finals will all be played on Memorial Day. Softball playoffs start on May 23rd for 2A and 3A, with the District Finals on June 1st. A and 4A start on May 24th with the finals being played on May 31st. So now here's what happened this week and we look ahead to this week.


HOLY REDEEMER BASEBALL CLINCHES WVC DIVISION 3 TITLE
Holy Redeemer took the division crown by beating the defending champions, Hanover Area in a walkoff win on Thursday afternoon. The division title has come to a surprise, myself included. The team a year ago, had to replace almost all of their lineup and did it with mostly underclassmen. So congrats to Holy Redeemer on a baseball division crown.


WYOMING AREA BASEBALL CLINCHES WVC DIVISION 2 TITLE
Another team I didn't expect to win a division title did this week as well. Despite losing on Saturday, they clinched the division because Valley West knocked off Lake-Lehman.


BIG LACKAWANNNA LEAGUE MATCHUPS LOOM
The Division 1 and 2 titles may end this week, with Valley View and West Scranton facing off against each other. In Divison 2, Delaware Valley who comes in undefeated, takes on 1 loss Wallenpaupack. Both are 3 game series, so the team with 2 wins will be 2 games up.
