End of the Line
The postseason is almost here!!! Several teams still have a chance to clinch Division Titles and lock up seeds for the postseason. Currently for baseball, Valley West, Wyoming Area and Holy Redeemer have clinched division titles in the WVC. Valley View and Delaware Valley have clinched in the Lackawanna League. For softball, Hazleton Area and Holy Redeemer have clinched their divisions in the WVC. In the Lackawanna League, Abington Heights and Montrose have clinched division titles. Division 3 in baseball comes down to Lakeland, who plays Mid Valley. Currently, Holy Cross is a game out and Mid Valley is 2 games out. Mid Valley and Lakeland face off against each other this week, while Holy Cross has finished their conference schedule. If Mid Valley and Lakeland were to split the series, Holy Cross and Lakeland would be tied for the division. However if Mid Valley were to sweep Lakeland, Holy Cross would win the Division 3 title. A Lakeland sweep gives them the title outright. Montrose is leading by a game over Forest City in Division 4. Montrose plays winless Susquehanna, a sweep or a Forest City loss gives Montrose the title. Forest City takes on Blue Ridge. In softball, Tunkhannock and Nanticoke face off on Monday but even if Nanticoke were to win, they take on Hazleton Area on Tuesday, which could help out Tunkhannock if they were to lose. Nanticoke then finishes with Wyoming Area on Wednesday and Tunkhannock ends with Dallas. North Pocono currently leads Lackawanna League Division 2 with Wallenpaupack behind by a game with 2 games in hand. Wallenpaupack plays Western Wayne in a doubleheader on Monday and Scranton on Tuesday. North Pocono takes on West Scranton on Monday, a win would clinch the division title for the Trojans. Lackawanna League's Division 3 is in a three way with Lakeland, Mid Valley and Riverside. Lakeland and Mid Valley play each other this week and Riverside takes on Old Forge. A split by Lakeland and Mid Valley and a sweep by Riverside would give the division title to Riverside. A sweep by Riverside and Lakeland or Mid Valley would cause a tie which would cause a one game playoff. A split by all three would result in a three way tie. A lot to be determined in the District bracket, but in 3A, the 3 seed is set with North Pocono, as well as the 14 and 13 seed with Tunkhannock as the 14 and Coughlin as No 13. In 2A, Holy Redeemer has clinched the No 1 seed in the postseason. Forest City has clinched the No 1 seed in the A playoffs.
