Abington Heights takes seventh District Title over Dallas
The Abington Heights Comets and the Dallas Mountaineers came to the Mohegan Sun Arena for the District 2 5A Championship game. Abington Heights is looking for their seventh straight District Championship. Dallas is looking for their first District Title in 34 years. Who would come out on top in this 5A matchup? Let's find out!
With the game tied early at 4, Abington Heights would go on a 9-2 run and take a 13-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Comets would build a 13 point lead but Dallas wouldn't stand down. The Mountaineers would go on a 10-2 run as they would only trail 22-17 at halftime.
The Mountaineers were hoping to get the lead but the Comets had other plans. Jack Nealon would increase the Comets lead to 10 with a three pointer. The closest the Mountaineers could get would be seven and the Comets would lead 41-27 at the end of the third. The Comets would cruise in the fourth quarter for a 61-36 victory over Dallas for their seventh straight District title.
Thoughts on the game: Congrats to Abington Heights on winning their seventh straight District title. It is an incredible accomplishment to do. Not many teams can say they've won seven straight titles. On the game, George Tinsley was impressive with 21 points as was Jack Nealon. Nealon's three point shooting propelled the Comets to the District title. For Dallas, Alex Charlton had a great game with 10 points as did Joey Parsons.
