Two Thirds From The Trifecta

Week 2 is in the books in High School Football and we haven't finished Week 1 of college football as of this recording. We only have the NFL regular season start to go so there's wall-to-wall coverage of football from Thursday to Monday. There were some good games this past week in HS Football as well in college football. With that being said, here's how the HS Football and local college football games went this past week.

Scranton 34 Honesdale 13
Robbie McAndrew threw for 192 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for two touchdowns as well for the Knights. Ky'Ron Harbin caught four passes for 138 yards and a touchdown. For Honesdale, Andy Carroll ran for 142 yards and a touchdown. The 6A Field is looking very interesting with three teams currently at 2-0 on the young season.

Delaware Valley 28 Valley View 24
Returning from Florida, the Warriors of Delaware Valley came out victorious at Valley View. Nick Reilly threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns and also ran in for a touchdown as well. Dylan Kelly had four catches for 65 yards and two touchdowns. The Cougars Traon Jones ran for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Delaware Valley is looking like the team to beat in 6A.

Wallenpaupack 35 West Scranton 19
Joe Ingulli had a monster game for the Buckhorns. He rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught 2 passes for 53 yards and a touchdown. Ingulli also recorded an interception on defense.  Tom McCormick threw for 93 yards and two touchdowns. The Invaders Jake Ciullo threw for 151 yards and a touchdown. Shayne Merrifield caught four passes for 60 yards and Owen Evans caught five passes for 55 yards and a touchdown. Right now, it's looking like the Buckhorns could be the best team in the District in 5A.

Meyers 28 Montrose 6
Janssen Wilborn had a great game for the Mohawks. He threw for 162 yards and two touchdowns. On the ground, he ran for 130 yards and a touchdown. Najese Hood caught three passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns. The Meteors John Herman ran for 76 yards in the loss. The victory was Meyers 500th in school history.

Old Forge 38 Carbondale 12
Dante Lucarelli threw for 171 yards and three touchdowns. Brendan Mozeleski ran for 123 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught a ten yard touchdown pass for the Blue Devils. Jordan Tolerico would throw for 43 yards and a touchdown to Anthony Bucklaw.

Mid Valley 40 Riverside 20
Mid Valley used their running game for the victory. The Spartans Joe Chylak ran for 151 yards and four touchdowns. Not to be outdone, Colin Hazelton ran for 178 yards and two touchdowns. For the Vikings, Chase Briskie ran for 177 yards and a touchdown.

North Pocono 44 Abington Heights 13
Donny Blaine threw for 138 yards and two touchdowns for the Trojans. JC Gaughan ran for 138 yards and caught a 60 yard pass for a touchdown. For Abington Heights, George Tinsley threw for 109 yards and two touchdowns to Trey Koehler who caught 4 passes for 71 yards. Koehler also recorded a pick on defense. The defending champs of 4A might look like a better team than they did last season.

Dunmore 34 Lackawanna Trail 7
Dunmore beats Lackwanna Trail in convincing fashion. The Bucks Gavin Darcy threw for 68 yards and three touchdowns. Nate Fangio added three catches for 62 yards and two touchdowns. The Lions Jeffrey Resto recorded a rushing touchdown. Ray Melnikoff rushed for 34 yards.

Western Wayne 34 GAR 0
The Wildcats defense pitched a shutout against the Grenadiers. The Wildcats Kobe Sauter ran for 137 yards and Cole Fuller ran for 58 yards and two touchdowns and also caught a touchdown pass. Scott Smith had two picks for Western Wayne. Gerson Peralta threw for 57 yards for the Grenadiers.

Hazleton Area 17 Valley West 15
The Cougars posted a big win on the road over Valley West. The Cougars Sparky Wolk threw for 263 yards and a touchdown. Damon Horton ran for a touchdown and he caught four passes for 159 yards and a touchdown for the Cougars. The Spartans Jake Shusta threw for 149 yards and a touchdown. Zach Davies ran for 42 yards and a touchdown.

Berwick 23 Dallas 7
The Bulldogs start off the season 2-0 despite losing several starters from last season. Alex Force threw for 186 yards and a touchdown for the Bulldogs. Evan Klinger ran for 66 yards and a touchdown. Damon Beckhorn caught seven passes for 86 yards. Leonard Kelley ran for 46 yards and a touchdown for the Mountaineers.

Blue Mountain 40 Hanover Area 0
The Blue Mountain defense shuts down the Hawkeyes. The Hawkeyes have been shutout for the second straight game. Sean Coleman would catch six passes for 36 yards and Aaron Hummer threw for 59 yards for the Hawkeyes.

Northwest 25 Lake-Lehman 7
The Rangers get on the win on the road for their first on the season. David Piestrak ran for 108 yards for a touchdown for the Rangers. He also threw for 134 yards. Jake Anderson added 67 yards on the ground and a touchdown for the Rangers. Trey Borger ran for 38 yards and Zack Kojandinovich added 35 rushing yards and a touchdown for the Black Knights.

Pittston Area 36 Tunkhannock 20
Patriots Head Coach Nick Barbieri got his first win as head coach. The Patriots Walter Coles threw for 252 yards and three touchdowns. Kevin Krawczyk caught three passes for 125 yards and a touchdown for Pittston Area. The Tigers Logan Cywinski ran for 198 yards and two touchdowns. Zach Rogers threw for 136 yards and a touchdown.

Nanticoke 50 CMVT 13
The Trojans went to 2-0 with a blowout victory over Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech. Dawson Hughes ran for 138 yards and three touchdowns for the Trojans. Eric Jeffries added 121 yards and three touchdowns for the Trojans.

Lakeland 42 Holy Cross 7
The Chiefs scored 42 points in the first half to cruise to a victory at Holy Cross. Giovanni Spataro ran for 122 yards and two touchdowns for the Chiefs. Nico Piraino threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns for Lakeland. For the Crusaders, Jason Kopf ran for 80 yards. Jake Wiercinski ran in for the Crusaders lone touchdown on the day.

Scranton Prep 42 Coughlin 0
The Cavaliers improve to 2-0 after another blowout. Scranton Prep's Matt Gilmartin for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Leo O'Boyle threw for 87 yards and two touchdowns. Coughlin's Vincent Todd threw for 98 yards and ran for 86 yards.

Susquehanna 54 Holy Redeemer 21
The Sabers improve to 2-0 after a road victory. Susquehanna's Sam Cosmello ran for 116 yards and three touchdowns. CJ Stone threw for 84 yards and a touchdown. James Cunningham ran for 110 yards and a touchdown for the Royals. JD Turosky threw for 72 yards and a touchdown pass to Matt Piontkowski.

King's 30 Moravian 27
The Monarchs started off the season 1-0 with a Thursday night home victory over Moravian. Zach Whitehead threw for 309 yards and he ran for 83 yards and three touchdowns. Kicker Mike Tumminello kicked a 38 yard FG with 1:37 left to give King's the victory. Moravian's Doug Erney threw for 212 yards for a touchdown and ran for 131 yards and two touchdowns.

Muhlenberg 62 Wilkes 19
Wilkes fall on the road to Muhlenberg. Muhlenberg's Nick Savant ran for 271 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught an 80 yard touchdown pass. Wilkes' QB Jose Tabora threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns. Garrett Armstrong had ten catches for 121 yards and a touchdown. Aaron Coyne also added 4 catches for 36 yards and two touchdowns.

Merchant Marine 56 Misericordia 35
Misericordia falls in high-scoring opening week game. MM's B Moore threw for 162 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for two touchdowns. J Bellomo ran for 115 yards and a touchdown. Misericordia's Brandon Leap threw for 426 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 45 yards and two touchdowns. Isaiah Williams caught 10 passes for 142 yards and three touchdowns.

Stonehill 44 Bloomsburg 28
Bloomsburg falls in home opener to Stonehill. Stonehill's Matt Foltz threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns. Brian Kearns Jr ran for 135 yards and a touchdown. The Huskies Chris Palubinsky threw for 265 yards and two touchdowns. Jay Popson caught 7 passes for 121 yards and Michael Allen caught 6 passes for 78 yards and a touchdown.
